“The souderton cdc ("scdc") works to improve the public perception by the public and potential investors of the town of souderton. To achieve this goal, the volunteers run several events that have become part of the local heritage. The first is the 53-year-old souderton holiday parade. Scdc has made the parade self-sustaining through donations by participants and sponsorships. The attendance and the participation has steadily increased since scdc took over the operation. 3rd fridays from may thorugh october are date night meets block party. Providing fun for the whole family, 3rd friday allows visitors to meet new and old friends as they enjoy live music, food trucks, beer and wine, art, ice cream, vendors, retailers with extended hours and more. Scdc also handles several smaller events like the souderton tree lighting ceremony or participates in larger community events. In 2014, the organization added a new annual event in the art jam (souderton). This event celebrates artists from all areas and bring them into a group where crowds gather to see individual vendors, listen to great music and partake in of all the various forms of food offered. These will now be annual events bringing all kinds of business to the area. Scdc also works to communicate with a greater audience about the qualities of souderton. They circulate an email newsletter at least twice a month full of community events, business news and anything that would encourage readers to shop, work or play in the towns. A revitalization committee was formed to work directly with montgomery county department of economic development to bring new business to the downtown area. The committee works specifically with property owners that have vacant or undeveloped businesses or properties within the borough. The committee is dedicated to new business owners in town. New business is promoted through spotlights on the souderton connects website, ribbon cutting ceremonies and social media exposure through our facebook and instagram pages. The scdc also shares community events with online calendars of local and regional newspapers and other resources. They actively participate in regional marketing efforts through the valley forge convention and visitor bureau's publications and websites, see www.montcomainstreets.com.”

THEY ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN REGIONAL MARKETING EFFORTS THROUGH THE VALLEY FORGE CONVENTION AND VISITOR BUREAU'S PUBLICATIONS AND WEBSITES, SEE WWW.MONTCOMAINSTREETS.COM. |
