The mission of the washington pavilion is delivering memorable experiences that entertain, educate and enrich. Its vision is inspiring lifelong discovery and inclusive experiences that improve the quality of life for everyone. Its core values are diversity, service, creativity and collaboration.

Husby performing arts center (hpac)the world class husby performing arts center features the elegant 1,900 seat mary w. Sommervold hall, with its large proscenium stage, complete superior sound and lighting systems. The facility also includes the intimate 291-seat belbas theater and the schulte rehearsal room. The husby performing art center is a state-of-the-art performance facility that provides cultural, entertainment and educational presence for the citizens of sioux falls and the tri-state region.*there were over 80 performances held in the mary w. Sommervold hall. *there were 1,251 performance series subscribers for the 2012-2013 season.*over 8,000 children from local and regional schools encountered their first experience with live entertainment.*over 30,000 patrons attended 30 performances presented by the pavilion.*over 550 college graduates received their diploma on the mary w. We offer professional staff, affordable rates, and a great way to bring people together to have a shared experience of the arts. The washington pavilion is truly a gathering place for the community and is the home of the south dakota symphony orchestra and the sioux falls concerts association/live on stage. *among the performance rental events in 2012 were:brian regan, concordia college, sounds of sd, brule, moscow ballet, jim brickman, the blackwood brothers, lorie line, tonic sol fa, holiday jam, dakota sky international piano festival, augustana band festival, celtic woman, dance recitals from the local companies of balleraena dance studio and britza dance studios, band and orchestra concerts from all three local high schools, lincoln high, roosevelt high, washington high and neighboring canton high and graduation ceremonies for usf and ctu.*over 95,000 visitors attended events offered by outside organizations.

Kirby science discovery center (ksdc)the kirby science discovery center is the region's foremost hands-on science experience, featuring over 100 interactive, permanent exhibits, nearly 20,000 square feet of exhibition space and the wells fargo cinedome.attendance *85,618 people visited the kirby science discovery center and wells fargo cinedome. *9,388 patrons participated in the free first friday program, offering free evening admission to the kirby science discovery center on the first friday of every month. *64% who visited were south dakota residents. The remaining patrons visited from 49 states in the united states and foreign countries.*thousands of additional students and families were exposed to science programming through the pavilion's participation in offsite festivals, workshops, and demonstrations including women in science events, sioux empire water festival, sanford research career days, jazzfest, youth night at sioux falls stadium, girl and boy scout events, and the first annual it's all about science festival.exhibits *traveling exhibition nature unleashed was on loan from the field museum in chicago, il and displayed in the kirby science discovery center from january 28 - may 6, 2012. Total attendance was nearly 33,000 with students with school groups visiting from 80 cities and 4 states.wells fargo cinedome*newly installed in october 2012, the wells fargo cinedome's digital projection system provides incredible high definition technology, opening the doors to new educational titles as well as hollywood feature films. With a state-of-the-art 4k single image projector, the pavilion entered a new era of cinema in not only sioux falls, sd but also the world. This new system is more energy- and resource- efficient than the previous film-based system.programming and special events *as a culmination to the first year of our girls in stem program, participating girls from axtell park and whittier middle schools attended a girls night at the ksdc. The girls enjoyed a full evening of programming and a panel discussion including women scientists from the community. This weekly after school outreach program engaged girls in science, technology, engineering, and math (stem) topics.*the ksdc partnered with south dakota engineering society to engage patrons in learning about engineering careers and opportunities during engineering week.*the summer sidewalk series made its debut in the outdoor amphitheater, providing patrons and the public the opportunity to view demonstrations outdoors. *the pavilion partnered with other sioux falls organizations to host its first ever navy week in july. Sioux falls was one of 15 cities selected by the u. S. Navy to visit in an effort to increase public awareness of the navy's mission. 270 patrons participated at the pavilion where an interactive simulator, dive team, and suburban gaming station were present.*design challenge: battle of the buoyant boats- forty-four teams and 150 participants registered to compete in this annual event hosted in partnership with the community learning center.*science fair showcase - 44 projects were registered to compete in the event hosted by the community learning center and kirby science discovery center. Winners from area schools were invited to participate.*spooky science night: a stroll through storyland -1,229 visitors participated in the annual two day themed event. Net revenue in tickets sales ranked the second highest and total admission ranked the third highest since the event began in 1999.

CLC PROGRAMMING REACHES A WIDE CROSS-SECTION OF OUR COMMUNITY: OVER 33,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN CLC PROGRAMMING IN 2012: 20,000 OF WHICH WERE REACHED OUTSIDE OF THE PAVILION'S WALLS THROUGH OUTREACH, MAKING THE PAVILION YOURS, MINE AND OURS.
