E3 rochester operates, maintains, and promotes a website, goodschoolsroc.org, that provides a portal for city parents to view and learn about 19 charter school locations in rochester and then submit a single on-line application to one or more schools of their choice. This has resulted in a substantial increase in applications to charter schools while leading the charter schools to work more closely together on common issues and raise the visibility of charter schools as a substantial part of rochester's educational landscape. B. E3 rochester continued to support the growth and success of vertus charter school, a high school for boys. This school has pioneered a new approach for serving young men from impoverished urban settings by putting them in teams led by full time, paid mentors who explicitly teach character traits needed for success, model those behaviors, and provide the caring, encouragement and goal setting they need to complete their educations. Instruction consists of a combination of traditional classroom teaching and self-paced online course in learning labs where students can master subjects at their own pace. The result has been that students who struggled academically at other schools have achieved almost two years of learning per year. C. E3 rochester previously constructed a middle school campus in an impoverished neighborhood of the northeast quadrant of the city, helping to spark a widespread neighborhood renewal. While the charter school located in this building closed at the end of june 2019, the campus has been sold to uncommon schools, and will be eventually be rochester prep high school serving 900 students. D. E3 rochester continues to extend its community outreach to give city parents the means to influence and access the educational choices available to their children. E3 also assists charter schools in finding board members, information and resources for their school operations. E3 stands ready to assist district schools as well, if and when they indicate an interest in collaboration with charter schools. F. E3 is encouraging partnerships and alliances among key business leaders and community initiatives to address rochester's urgent need to vastly improve educational opportunities and outcomes for its children. If rochester is ever to gain the status of a world class city, it must have a world class educational system, possible only if community leaders collaborate to address the issue.”
