“The organization's treasurer, executive director, and members of the finance committee are provided a draft copy of the form 990 for review purposes. These individuals conduct a thorough review of the 990 and advise the preparer of any changes to make prior to completion of the final copy of the 990. Final changes are then made by the preparer. The treasurer of the organization then does a final general review of the completed form 990 and approves it by his/her signing of form 8879-eo and returning it to the preparer for filing of form 990.”

“Filmscene has a comprehensive multi-page policy that establishes guidelines, procedures, and requirements for: (a) identifying what qualifies as a conflict of interest and situations that may result in an actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest; (b) disclosing and addressing any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest in accordance with legal requirements and the goals of accountability and transparency; and (c) correcting a failure for board members to comply with this policy.”

“Governing documents and financial statements are available to the public upon specific request. The applicable materials are either mailed or emailed to the requesting person, or that person can inspect the documents and/or materials at the office of the organization during normal business hours.”

Filmscene is iowa city's nonprofit cinema, working in partnership with the bijou film board, a university of iowa student organization, to present films at two locations on five permanent screens and a seasonal outdoor cinema.
