THIS PAST YEAR, OHC CONTINUED FOOD HUB PROCESSING OPERATIONS IN THE FREESTORE FOOD BANK'S WAREHOUSE, EXPANDED TO 27 PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL GROWERS AND FOOD ARTISANS, SERVED AS THE PRACTICUM SITE FOR CINCINNATI STATE'S SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AS WELL AS THE LAB SPACE FOR THE OUR HARVEST RESEARCH AND EDUCATION INSTITUTE'S APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM.

THE GENERAL MANAGER OF APPLE STREET HELPED NAVIGATE SOME UNFORESEEN CHALLENGES REGARDING RISING COSTS OF LEASEHOLD IMPROVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES WITH THE SITE SO THAT THE PROJECT IS BACK ON TRACK, RAISING THE ADDITIONAL FUNDS NECESSARY TO BRING THE GROCERY INTO EXISTENCE. SINCE IT IS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED, APPLE STREET HAS BEGUN SELLING STAPLES AT COST AT THE NORTHSIDE FARMERS MARKET TO INCREASE FOOD ACCESS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

DURING THIS YEAR WE HOSTED THE UNION CO-OP SYMPOSIUM WHICH BROUGHT TOGETHER 180 PEOPLE FROM 20 DIFFERENT STATES AS WELL AS REPRESENTATIVES OF MONDRAGON IN ORDER TO HELP CONNECT THE UNION CO-OP MOVEMENT AND HELP BUILD AND SHARE SKILLS AND STRATEGIES FOR CREATING UNION CO-OP INITIATIVES AND BUILDING AN ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR ALL. WE CONTINUED OUR WEEKLY WORKER TEAM MEETINGS, AND PRESENTED AT BOTH NATIONAL CONFERENCES AND LOCAL GATHERINGS.
