“The treasurer has the responsibility for reviewing the organization's form 990 (including all pertinent schedules) before it is filed with the internal revenue service. A draft of the form 990 is ready for review by the board no later than one weeks prior to the filing deadline. After the draft of the form 990 has been obtained by the board, they will have no more than one week to complete their review. In conducting their review of the draft of the form 990, the treasurer conducts a top-level or big-picture type of review. However, if the board deems it necessary to conduct a more detailed review of the form 990, then they contact the preparer of the form 990 to request copies of the relevant detailed tax return workpapers which they would like to see. Once the board has completed its initial review of the form 990, a meeting or conference call is scheduled with the preparer of the form 990 to discuss any questions, comments, and suggested revisions identified by the treasurer, if deemed necessary. The preparer of the form 990 makes any revisions to the form 990 as soon as feasibly possible to ensure that the form 990 is filed with the internal revenue service on a timely basis. All questions, comments, and suggested revisions set forth by the treasurer is documented, along with any responses from the preparer of the form 990, if applicable.”

“College initiative the college initiative program provides students with college prep support as well as ongoing academic, financial, and social-emotional support throughout their college journey. The flexible nature of our program allows us to re-engage and re-enroll students who may have stepped of their college path for one reason or another. The result so far is a college graduation rate 8x higher than the national average for students who are considered low-income and are the first in their families to go to college. Since the beginning of our program, we have sent over 100 epa students to colleges around the country and provide over 350,000 a year in scholarships. We currently have 65 students in college that we are supporting. Swag program the swag program is a partnership between lip, the county of san mateo, and sequoia union high school district (suhsd), focusing on the most academically disengaged students in grades 9-12. The program has been designed as a comprehensive program to ensure that young people who are credit deficient, in or on their way towards juvenile hall, or on the verge of dropping out, have a culturally relevant, academically rigorous, and pro-social supportive environment to get back on track. We provide tutoring, one-on-one mentoring, case management, and more to see these students back on track to graduate. Compared to a matched comparison group of similar students who did not participate, swag youth demonstrate statistically significant outcomes. Positive trends in academic indicators including: considerable increases in the average number of credits earned (from 49 to 61) especially academic (as opposed to electives) credits (from 28 to 37) small increases in average gpa (from 1.7 to 2.0) small decreases in suspensions (from 22% to 20%) more than 90% of swag students in 2016-17 who could have graduated did so (72 of 78) a total of 89 swag students graduated as of august 2017, including swag participants in 2015-16 and 2016-17. Gap year the gap-year project serves young adults ages 18-24 who arent yet sure what their next step is after high school or ged. The gap-year provides a cohort model in which they identify their vision and goals; explore the pathways available to them; gain job-readiness skills; and prepare for the next step towards a productive and fulfilling career. We have already seen huge success in our first year, as this program saw 25 young people who were on track to drop out of high school, complete internships, start trade schools, enter the workforce in the tech field, and successfully complete a year of college. And as we start our second year, with 20 new students, we are looking for ways to continue to grow and support this program as there is a waitlist for students to join. Bike shop the bike shop was built on the understanding that most young people thrive in project-based learning, even when they are not successful in traditional academic settings. We provide a space for young people to learn and train to be bike mechanics; provide free bikes to the community; and engage our community through riding club and community rides. In less than a year, we have a fully equipped bike shop with both staff and equipment; we have given out over 150 bikes to our community; and are training three young people to be certified bike mechanics.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | LIVE IN PEACE IS AN EAST PALO ALTO-BASED ORGANIZATION COMMITTED TO ADVANCEING THE CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF YOUTH IN COMMUNITIES OF COLOR. WE FULFILL THIS MISSION BY BUILDING A STRONG FAMILY ATMOSPHERE THAT SUPPORTS OUR YOUTH IN THE FOLLOWING THREE PROGRAM AREAS: THE LIP STUDIO (ARTS AND CULTURE), THE COLLEGE INITIATIVE (EDUCATION), AND THE STREET CODE ACADEMY (TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMICS). IN EACH PROGRAM, WE HELP OUR STUDENTS DISCOVER, DEVELOP, AND DIRECT THEIR CREATIVE GENIUS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THEIR COMMUNITY AND THE BRODER WORLD. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | COLLEGE INITIATIVE THE COLLEGE INITIATIVE PROGRAM PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH COLLEGE PREP SUPPORT AS WELL AS ONGOING ACADEMIC, FINANCIAL, AND SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THEIR COLLEGE JOURNEY. IN LESS THAN A YEAR, WE HAVE A FULLY EQUIPPED BIKE SHOP WITH BOTH STAFF AND EQUIPMENT; WE HAVE GIVEN OUT OVER 150 BIKES TO OUR COMMUNITY; AND ARE TRAINING THREE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE CERTIFIED BIKE MECHANICS. |
