Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C Conflict of interest policy

The University uses/follows the conflict of interest policy of the Center for Specialized REALTOR Education. On an annual basis, the directors and officers of the organization received a questionnaire designed to the help identify any conflicting issues that may need to be addressed by the governing body. If any conflicts are noted, they are addressed by the Board in a timely manner. Also, if necessary, the NAR General Council is consulted about appropriate steps to take if a conflict is identified. Any person that has a conflict is not allowed to vote on transactions or decisions for which that individual may personally benefit. Steps to alleviate, monitor and deal with conflicts such as restricting the actions of persons with a conflict by prohibiting them from participating in the governing body's deliberations and decisions for a particular transaction.

Form 990, Part III, Line 1 REALTOR UNIVERSITY

In October 2019, the University's Board of Regents adopted a resolution calling for the orderly cessation of the University's academic operations by the end of calendar year 2020. This cessation is the result of a partnership agreement entered into by and between NAR, CSRE, and Columbia College of Columbia, Missouri, a regionally accredited, private, nonprofit institution of higher education, providing for certain academic benefits to NAR members and University alumni. The Board of Regents further directed the development of a teach-out plan providing existing students the opportunity to complete their course of study. This plan was filed with the IBHE and DEAC on November 6, 2019 and both entities communicated their acceptance of the plan. The decision as to the final disposition of the REALTOR University corporate entity after the conclusion of the teach-out process will be determined by the Board of Regents in 2020.

Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 FIN 48 (ASC 740) footnote

The University follows guidance issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) with respect to accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. A tax position is recognized as a benefit only if it is "more likely than not" that the tax position would be sustained in a tax examination, with a tax examination being presumed to occur. The amount recognized is the largest amount of tax benefit that is greater than 50% likely of being realized on examination. For tax positions not meeting the "more likely than not" test, no tax benefit is recorded. The University recognizes interest and penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest and income tax expense, respectively. The University has no amounts accrued for interest or penalties as of December 31, 2019 and 2018. Due to its tax-exempt status, the University is not subject to U.S. federal or state income tax. The University does not expect the total amount of unrecognized tax benefits to significantly change in the next 12 months.

A tax position is recognized as a benefit only if it is "more likely than not" that the tax position would be sustained in a tax examination, with a tax examination being presumed to occur. The amount recognized is the largest amount of tax benefit that is greater than 50% likely of being realized on examination. For tax positions not meeting the "more likely than not" test, no tax benefit is recorded. The University recognizes interest and penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest and income tax expense, respectively. The University has no amounts accrued for interest or penalties as of December 31, 2019 and 2018. Due to its tax-exempt status, the University is not subject to U.S. federal or state income tax. The University does not expect the total amount of unrecognized tax benefits to significantly change in the next 12 months.

That policy was also adopted by resolution of the Board of Regents on May 21, 2011. REALTOR University notifies all potential students of its racially nondiscriminatory policy when they register online. Due to REALTOR University's exclusively online nature, this is the only notification that potential applicants receive. REALTOR University follows at all times a racially nondiscriminatory policy as to students, as demonstrated by the racial diversity of its students, and complies with Section 4.02 of Rev. Rul. 75-50 by including a statement of its racially nondiscriminatory policy as to students in all its brochures and catalogues dealing with student admissions, programs and scholarships. REALTOR University also includes a reference to its racially nondiscriminatory policy in other written advertising that it uses as a means of informing prospective students of its programs.
