Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Village Missions transforms communities by full-time missionary pastors preaching the Word and loving the people. Village Missionaries serve struggling rural churches, developing a healthy Christ centered church that impacts the entire community. This is accomplished through worship services, visitation, community involvement, Bible studies, after school clubs, VBS, and other activities.

Village Missions exists to glorify Jesus Christ by developing spiritually vital country churches in rural North America. We fulfill this aim by placing pastors in small town and rural churches that might otherwise have to close, and in doing so, preserve the Gospel presence in over 220 communities across the United States and Canada.

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part I, Line 1

Village Missions is a 501(c)(3) church, as defined under 170(b)(1)(A)(i). Village Missions is not required to annually file Form 990 based on IRS Regulation 1.6033- 2(g)(1)(i). This Form 990 is filed in the interest of transparency and accountability to our donors, the churches we serve, and the general public. Village Missions has maintained accreditation with the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) since 1994. One of ECFA's Standards requires Village Missions to provide a copy of its most recent audit to anyone who requests it. ECFA further requires that Village Missions provide a report, upon written request, including financial information on any specific project for which it sought or is seeking gifts. We welcome inquiries from our donors, those we serve and the general public. Village Missions most significant activity is helping rural churches introduce their friends and neighbors to our Lord Jesus Christ. God created you to be in perfect relationship with Him, but our sins fracture that relationship and separate us from Him. We can only be forgiven and reconciled back to God through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. We want to help you learn more about what Jesus has done for you and how He wants to be part of your life. God made the world and He created humanity. Man was in relationship with God for the glory of God and to experience God's love. There was no disease, death, shame, or sorrow. Loving God was at the core of all things and it was good and moral. However, that all changed when man used the free will God had so graciously provided to disobey God. That moment of disobedience, or the fall, is when sin came into the world. With sin came selfishness and crimes against God. Sin also broke man's perfect fellowship with God and brought death into the world. These sins separate us from a perfect and holy God. Our sin is the problem that corrupts the world and everything in it and we are powerless to overcome our sin apart from Jesus Christ. Our attempts to control the situation only increase the chaos around us and within us. That is why we need healing from sin. In spite of our sin, we can know God and be healed back into a right relationship with Him. You can know God personally. The Creator of the universe made you and wants an intimate relationship with you. Jesus is the gift that offers us forgiveness and relationship with God. The way to know the Father is through His Son: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" John 14:6. The Gospel literally translates as the "good news." Good news usually comes when something is wrong and we need someone or something to change our circumstances. In our case, sin is the problem that corrupts our hearts, the world and everything in it. We are powerless to overcome that problem apart from Christ. In other words, we can't earn our own forgiveness or salvation. However, that is where Jesus comes into our lives. He lived a perfect life and died as a sacrifice for our sins. He rose from the grave to conquer sin and death. Through his sacrifice He offers us forgiveness and eternal life with Him. This is a gift offered to each of us out of His love for us. That is the Good News - that Jesus loves us so much He offers us forgiveness of our sins and his spirit to help us change how we live. This healing is only by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. God loves you! He designed each of us to be in a perfect relationship with Him. But our actions, our sins, fractured that relationship. He wants the relationship healed but we can't do it alone. We can only be forgiven, healed and reconciled back to God through a relationship with His son, Jesus Christ. It does not matter what you have done or how far you feel from God. You can have Him in your life. Would you like your relationship healed and to learn more about what God is stirring in your heart towards Jesus? Chat with someone right now at https

$61,348. Contenders Discipleship Initiative (CDI) was launched as an online tuition-free Bible education. Contenders is a two-year program offered by Village Missions to equip Christians for ministry within their local church and to prepare those who are called for full-time ministry as missionary pastors. The CDI program is tuition-free and involves two components: 1) Biblical Education, and 2) Mentoring for Ministry ~ The Biblical component is a rigorous but compact curriculum delivered in six courses. ~ The Mentoring component is provided by a pastor/mentor. Successful completion of the Contenders Discipleship Initiative program satisfies the educational requirements of Village Missions for missionary applicants. IRS990/MissionDesc0Village Missions transforms communities by full-time missionary pastors preaching the Word and loving the people. Village Missionaries serve struggling rural churches, developing a healthy Christ centered church that impacts the entire community. This is accomplished through worship services, visitation, community involvement, Bible studies, after school clubs, VBS, and other activities.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Christianity Programs: Conferences - The acronym R.E.S.T perfectly describes what we hope to achieve for each missionary. Renewal, Encouragement, Strengthening and Training. Village Missions gathers our missionaries together in 6 locations throughout the US and Canada each summer for mutual edification, encouragement and equipping. ~What They Bring With Them~ For Village Missionaries, there is never a "good time" to get away from ministry. Each summer, missionaries share the many struggles they experienced in the days leading up to conference. A long-time church member passes away the day before conference. A board member leaves the church. A devastating fire burns the church to the ground. Still others receive a phone call on the way to conference that makes their hearts drop - a church member has been convicted of a felony. Some missionaries considered pulling a 180-degree turn so they could go deal with the issue, but they made the difficult decision to attend staff conference. Why? Because conference was specifically designed for these moments in ministry. When Village Missionaries face physical and emotional exhaustion, they arrive to find brothers and sisters who can grieve with them and encourage them. Conference provides refreshment for missionaries. ~What They Find~ "Having just returned from our V.M. Staff Conference at Green Bay, we are so thrilled to be part of the V.M. family and to have a supporting church standing behind us. It was good to re-connect with fellow missionaries, to hear their stories, to pray with and for each other and to be blessed through the ministry of the speakers." When Tim and Susan began ministry 34 years ago, they were thrilled with the idea of staff conference. "When we were younger and had a couple of kids, we were thinking, 'Oh my goodness! We're going to get away and get refreshed, and it's free?' It was just great," said Susan. Through the years, they developed close friendships and looked forward to encouraging each other every year. Today, as seasoned missionaries, Tim and Susan seek out younger missionaries to encourage in their ministries. Michael and Kimberly look for ways to encourage those coming to conference burdened in ministry. "In times past, we have been physically and emotionally exhausted before conference," said Michael. "This year, we came to Cannon Beach excited about what God is doing in the church. It was our turn to be a listening ear for others and to pray for them." Parents aren't the only ones who need the encouragement of friends at conference. Kids are missionaries, too! "There is a lot of pressure on a pastor's family, especially on the kids," said Village Missionary (former VM kid) Katie W. "Most people don't understand this, unless they've experienced it. Being able to spend time with other kids who are in the same types of situations is nice, especially if you're at a field where there aren't many youth." Staff Conference is just as much for the kids as the adults, and we've seen amazing thing happen in the life of VM kids through the week at conference. For Tim and Susan's son, Micah, conference was a time to build deep friendships with other young men his age. Before social media, conference was often the only time each year he could see these friends. It was difficult to wait that long to see his guy friends, but it was torture waiting that long to see Andrea, the Village Missionary kid he'd fallen head over heels for in junior high. Micah and Andrea are now married and serving in full-time ministry in France. And this year, they came back to staff conference to volunteer with the kids program! ~When they Leave~ "God spoke to us through His Word and we were reminded of great truths that are so vital to the ministry He has called us to." Many Village Missionaries who leave staff conference are still physically tired, but their spirits are soaring. The same struggles still await them back home, and they may still be waiting for God's direction in how to

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Christianity Programs: Candidate School - Village Missions conducts orientation classes to screen and train prospective Village Missionaries. This is the final step in a rigorous screening process where the the call of candidates to the ministry is validated and their final acceptance is determined. We hold Candidate School in the Spring and Fall of each year. This week-long event gives potential missionary-pastors a good look at Village Missions: our history, policies, mission, and vision. At the same time, we get to know the candidates. The candidates are trained for rural ministry and spend time in prayer together. They get to know the International Service Center staff. At the end of the week, the candidates hold a service where they share their testimonies and Executive Director Brian Wechsler gives a short message. The public is invited to this service. As part of our continuing efforts to find new Village Missionaries to bring to Candidate School and send to fields who are waiting for leadership, we take special time to pray each month.
