“Honor and remember continues to influence the national and global conversation on remembrance. Many of you have been with us since the beginning and have seen our impact grow, while others are newer to this mission. What many may not realize is the broad scope of our work- accomplished with limited resources yet leaving a permanent legacy of honor. Our mission is unwavering and not dictated by shifting cultural or political issues. Our organizational focus is simple and steadfast: establish, educate, present, comfort. These four words define our vision and remain equal cornerstones of the mission. Fifteen all-volunteer honor and remember state chapters, supported by dedicated ambassadors, work daily to expand awareness and reach families across the country. Below are highlights of our progress in each core area. Establish "in 2024, alaska became the 28th state to officially adopt the honor and remember and honor and sacrifice flags as state symbols. States including new york, kentucky, ohio, and massachusetts remain in consideration for adoption during 2025 legislative sessions. "our ultimate goal is national adoption through congress. Current legislation includes h.r. 1363, introduced by rep. Donald davis. We continue to pursue bipartisan support and a senate companion bill. "endorsements continue to grow from municipalities, institutions, associations, and corporations nationwide. Our long-term vision is to establish the tradition of flying the honor and remember flag whenever a military casualty is reported. Educate "education is key to helping americans understand the meaning of being a gold star family. Much of this occurs through flag presentations and through partnerships with organizations committed to flying the flag. "national corporate partnerships continue to expand with nascar, norwegian cruise line, sargento, geico, spartannash, goodyear, and others. "education initiatives take place at both national and local levels through speaking engagements, media interviews, literature distribution, and events. Major efforts include: -nascar charlotte memorial weekend 30-second moment of silence continues -establishing may as honor and remember month -the may memorial marathon -speaking at hundreds of personalized flag presentation venues. "since 2012, run for the fallen events have been conducted nationwide. In 2024, eleven yearly state runs were completed. Present "a central mission objective is to present a personalized honor and remember flag to every family of a fallen service member. To date, more than 5,000 flags have been presented. "in 2024 alone, over 250 personalized flags were produced and presented across the country, from intimate living room ceremonies to large-scale public events. "requests are received at a rate of nearly one per day. More than 300 families currently await presentations, with some waiting several years due to limited resources. Every generation of fallen heroes is included in our mandate. Comfort "presenting a flag begins a lasting relationship with each family. We continue to communicate regularly, offering opportunities for connection and healing. "comfort initiatives include annual banquets, memorial runs, and partnerships with major sporting venues such as nascar and others. "in 2024, the 15th annual gold star family evening hosted more than 350 family members for a first-class evening of entertainment, speakers, and remembrance. ________________________________________ looking ahead: next 6-12 months 1.sixteenth annual banquet - virginia beach, dec. 7, 2025 2.expansion of state run for the fallen events, including new 5k models 3.fourteenth annual state chapters' conference - january, virginia beach 4.nascar gold star family partnerships and championship banquets 5.strategic sales initiative targeting veteran organizations, funeral homes, and cemeteries 6.seventh annual may memorial marathon and expanded honor and remember month initiatives 7.expanded memorial day weekend programming 8”
“Honor and remember, inc. Is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, except on net income derived from unrelated business activities. Internal revenue code section 513(a) defines an unrelated trade or business of an unexempt organization as any trade or business which is not substantially related to the exercise or performance of its exempt purpose. Currently the organization has no obligation for any unrelated business income tax. The organization believes it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements; however, any penalties and interest incurred as a result of uncertain tax positions would be recorded in general administration.”
“The organization's forms 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, for the years ending 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021 are subject to examination by the irs, generally for three years after they were filed.”
