With the continued establishment of state chapters, we are making significantly more impact in those areas. These chapters are extensions of our organization, acting as boots on the ground and staffed 100% by volunteers. We now have seventeen state flag adoptions with many more in process. Additionally, every u.s. State has a point of contact who continues to contribute to the organization with increased awareness and outreach efforts. I believe that we are slowly, deliberately and successfully changing the mindset of this nation. Only a portion of the extensive activity over the last year is mentioned here.”
“That actively participate in the furtherance of our mission. We spend every day working to further develop our scope in each of the following critical areas. Establish - this year, two more states, west virginia and minnesota, have officially adopted the flag. Likewise, many more organizations and businesses are displaying the flag and supporting the mission. More states are currently considering legislation and we will continue until all 50 are in place. In addition, we are continually pursuing and receiving endorsements from municipalities, public institutions, associations and corporations, establishing the flag's identity everywhere. Every time there is a military casualty, especially if it's high profile, hr flags should be seen everywhere in tribute. We are working to establish that tradition. Educate - unfortunately, most americans do not know what it means to be a gold star family member. Education is key to bringing about an understanding that will ultimately change mindsets and bring needed recognition and appreciation for the price of our liberty. Opportunities to educate occur at both the national and local level. Activities and events such as setting up literature and product tables, speaking at major venues, doing interviews for radio, television, etc. All help to get the word out. Also, creating our own events, such as organized runs, banquets, concerts and other opportunities help to raise both awareness and much-needed funds to continue the work. This is a continuous and never-ending part of what we do. Significant initiatives for education include the nascar charlotte memorial weekend, the establishment of the month of may as honor and remember month and signage on over 2000 nationwide transport trucks. Since the start of 2105 we have also successfully completed the third annual virginia and third annual arizona run for the fallen as well as the first indiana run for the fallen. Present - with education comes awareness and with awareness we are able to reach generations of families of the fallen. One significant mission objective is the presentation of one personalized honor and remember flag to every family of a military fallen hero. The ultimate goal is intended to pay tribute to each individual man or women who lost his or her life for america. Since the war on terror began we have suffered nearly seven thousand military casualties, not counting health-related deaths or accidents. The honor and remember organization has presented over 2000 personalized flags to date. Currently, we are responding to our growing request list by accomplishing an average of one presentation per day. Still it is not enough. Some families who have requested personalized flags have been waiting for more than three years and we continue to reach out to others who do not yet know we exist. Our mandate includes every generation of heroes and their families. Since the start of 2015, we have presented over 300 flags, however we continue to receive new flag requests every day, bringing our current waiting total to over 1200. In june 2015 we began an historic initiative to erase our waiting list and build a resource for future family requests. The family legacy fund has the objective to raise one million dollars. One thousand friends of honor and remember who give a minimum of 1,000 each will form a permanent fund that will become self-sustaining-fulfilling the current list of flag requests and ensuring that future families will never have to face a long wait to receive their personalized honor and remember flags. We need everyone to participate and to share this opportunity over the next twelve months. Comfort - presenting the personalized honor and remember flag is only the beginning of a relationship we seek to build with each recipient family. Communicating with them on a regular basis and engaging them in the mission to recognize other wounded families promotes emotional healing and builds a sense of community among all families wh”
“Liability for uncertain tax positions under fin 48 footnote: the organization adopted the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax positions as required by generally accepted accounting principles, with no cumulative effect adjustment required. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more- likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The organization has analyzed the tax positions taken in its filings with the internal revenue service. The organization believes that its income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse affect on the organization's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, the organization has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at december 31, 2015.”
“The organization's federal return of organization exempt from income tax (form 990) for 2015, 2014, and 2013 are subject to examination by the irs, generally for three years after they were filed.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | THE HONOR AND REMEMBER ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT INFLUENCE ON THE MINDSET OF OUR NATION AND OUR WORLD. MANY OF YOU HAVE SUPPORTED US FROM OUR INCEPTION AND WATCHED OUR IMPACT GROW, WHILE OTHERS OF YOU HAVE RECENTLY COME ON BOARD. MANY OF THOSE WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH HONOR AND REMEMBER MAY NOT REALIZE THE FULL BREADTH OF WHAT WE DO WITH SO FEW RESOURCES. OUR ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS ARE VERY CLEAR AND CONCISE. THEY CAN BE ARTICULATED IN FOUR SIMPLE WORDS: ESTABLISH, EDUCATE, PRESENT, COMFORT. THESE CONCEPTS FORM THE BASIS FOR OUR ENTIRE VISION AND EACH ARE OF EQUAL IMPORTANCE. WE CURRENTLY HAVE SIXTEEN HONOR AND REMEMBER STATE CHAPTERS THAT ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE FURTHERANCE OF OUR MISSION. | IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | IN KEEPING WITH OUR MISSION AND PRIMARY GOALS, WE CONTINUE TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT THIS NATION WITH THE MESSAGE OF PERPETUALLY RECOGNIZING OUR MILITARY FALLEN HEROES AND THEIR FAMILIES. OUR OBJECTIVES CAN BE SUMMARIZED IN FOUR WORDS: ESTABLISH, EDUCATE, PRESENT AND COMFORT. IN THIS REPORT YOU WILL READ ABOUT THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN EACH OF THESE AREAS. THE YEAR BEGAN WITH A CONTINUED STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NASCAR ORGANIZATION, ENABLING US TO REACH INDIVIDUAL GOLD STAR FAMILY MEMBERS IN A VARIETY OF STATES. THIS YEAR WAS ALSO OUR THIRD INCLUSION INTO THE COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN (CFC), WHERE WE ARE ABLE TO TAKE OUR MESSAGE TO MILITARY AND FEDERAL EMPLOYEES THROUGH PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS. CONTINUING OUR GOAL OF PRESENTING PERSONALIZED FLAGS TO EVERY GOLD STAR FAMILY WHO HAS LOST A LOVED ONE IN MILITARY SERVICE, HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES WERE HONORED THIS YEAR IN MANY STATES. ONLY A PORTION OF THE EXTENSIVE ACTIVITY OVER THE LAST YEAR IS MENTIONED HERE. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | THAT ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE FURTHERANCE OF OUR MISSION. COMMUNICATING WITH THEM ON A REGULAR BASIS AND ENGAGING THEM IN THE MISSION TO RECOGNIZE OTHER WOUNDED FAMILIES PROMOTES EMOTIONAL HEALING AND BUILDS A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AMONG ALL FAMILIES WH |
