Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The organization's mission is to bring business and the community together to act on issues vital to the prosperity and long-term growth of the minnesota economy through its various programs.

Major Activities

Activity 2
The foundation began administering a new program in 2009 called get ready to grow, in collaboration with the pohlad family foundation. The pohlad family foundation has provided grant and low-interest loan funds to support private, small businesses throughout minnesota during the economic crisis. The purpose of the grants and loans are to preserve jobs or plan for business growth. Forty-nine businesses received grants and 37 businesses received low-interest loans in 2009. Follow up surveys and visits have been made to the grant and loan recipients to monitor the success of the program and to provide feedback to the pohlad family foundation. A majority of the loans have been paid in full.
Activity 3
The business resource center (www.mnbizconnect.com) program was started in 2007 to create, publicize and sustain a community-based business assistance and referral system. In 2009, business resource center became available statewide via an on-line database as well as by phone or email. In the past year, the site was searched over 1,000 times and the chamber assisted over 100 businesses directly. We continually update the site to find ways to connect business people with the resources they need as quickly as possible.
