| Our students have so much potential, academic inquiry, and dreams. However, many lack the confidence and motivation to succeed. We identified many students who were at least one grade level behind in math, science, and English proficiency. Despite some of these challenges, our students were able to accomplish the following: Spent 63 hrs. working on on-line math problems and tutoring Practiced 60 math skills Attempted 7,000 math problems The A.C.E. Youth Project is an effective, complimentary system that fortifies and solidifies learning, builds confidence and self-esteem, and exposes students to ideas, places, and professionals to which they would otherwise not be exposed. We hope to continue to serve the students of the Hartford Public School District with quality programing. We want to thank our volunteers and interns that worked daily to provide one-on-one support and encouragement to our students. We also want to thank Travelers Foundation, The Legacy Foundation, and The State of Connecticut Department of Education for their financial investment in our project. A special thanks to Draper Laboratories and The Massachusetts Institute of Technology for hosting our learning excursions, The Centers for Africana Studies at C.C.S.U. for providing us with interns, and The Connecticut Science Center for providing outreach projects for our students. Additionally we express our gratitude to our partners in the Hartford Public Schools: Kelvin Roldan (CIAO, Office of Institutional Advancement, HPS), Dr. Sandra Inga (S.T.E.M. Director, Office of Curriculum & Instruction, HPS), Mayra Lozada (Office of Curriculum & Instruction, HPS), Michael Carbone (Assistant Principal, MELS), and the principals and math and science teachers that assisted us with logistics, student information, and classroom space. | $35,840 | $35,840 |
