“Assists in preserving and interpreting the nationally registered 366 historic structures, features, landscapes and rich 19th century heritage of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore. Includes six areas - glen haven historic district, port oneida rural historic district, good harbor, platte river, north and south manitou islands. An official partner group of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore since 1998. Seeks and secures funds to support and facilitate preservation projects and adaptive-use, builds awareness of the historic collection and need for preservation, and offers educational interpretive activities.”

“Preservation - implemented preservation projects in the national park including the kraitz log cabin, boekeloo log cabin property; n. Unity log school; carsten burfiend outbuilding and farmhouse; charles olsen farmhouse and garden expansion; bufka farm barn; katie shepard hotel on north manitou island; kelderhouse farm orchard fence; and restoration/removal of invasive species in the port oneida historic district. Repairs are accomplished primarily through volunteer labor and funding of materials and equipment,as well as specialized hired contactors.”

“Education - in 2018, offered garden, food preservation and traditional craft activities; programs; bike, auto,barn,and horse and wagon history tours; tour booklets and other publications; and exhibits that inform and share our heritage - the stories and history of the people that lived in and settled the area of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore.served as fiduciary and co-partner of the port oneida cultural fair drawing over 3,000 visitors. Developed a leelanau county explore historic leelanau map for a collaborative historic tour brochure with other area history organizations;continued development of exhibits at the port oneida farms heritage center, and staffed and operated the center.”
