“Assists in preserving and interpreting the nationally registered 366 historic structures, features, landscapes and rich 19th century heritage of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore. Includes six areas - glen haven historic district, port oneida rural historic district, good harbor, platte river, north and south manitou islands. An official partner group of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore since 1998. Seeks and secures funds to support and facilitate preservation projects and adaptive-use, builds awareness of the historic collection and need for preservation, and offers educational interpretive activities.”

“Preservation - supported and implemented several preservation projects in the national park including the kraitz log cabin, boekeloo log cabin property, carsten burfiend barn foundation and farmhouse, charles olsen farm garden, katie shepard hostel on north manitou island, and field restoration/removal of invasive species in the port oneida historic district. Offered hands-on traditional skill training in plaster and chinking. Repairs are accomplished primarily through volunteer labor and funding of materials and equipment, as well as specialized hired contactors.”

“Education - offered activities, tours, publications, and exhibits that inform and share our heritage - the stories and history of the people that lived in and settled the area of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore. In 2017, contributed to south manitou island exhibit, fiduciary and co-partner of the port oneida cultural fair drawing 4,000 visitors. Hosted descendants of the port oneida rural historic district to connect and share historical information, conducted oral history recording, and prepared faust log cabin for educational tour. Continued development of exhibits at the port oneida farms heritage center, and staffed and operated the center.”
