“Assists in preserving and interpreting the nationally registered or eligible 366 historic structures, features, landscapes and rich 19th century heritage of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore. Includes six areas - glen haven historic district, port oneida rural historic district, good harbor, platte river, north and south manitou islands. An official partner group of sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore since 1998. Seeks and secures funds to support and facilitate preservation projects and adaptive-use, builds awareness of the historic collection and need for preservation, and offers educational interpretive activities.”

“Preservation - implemented preservation projects in the national park including the kraitz log cabin, n. Unity log school, carsten burfiend outbuilding, c. Olsen barn, farmstand, and garden restoration, katie shepard hotel on north manitou island, kelderhouse orchard restoration, miller barn workshop, thoreson farm barn, milkhouse, and stonehouse, removal of invasive species to restore farm fields in the port oneida rural historic district. Repairs are accomplished primarily by volunteer labor and funding of materials and equipment as well as specialized hired contractors.”

“Education and interpretation - in 2019 offered programs: garden education, horse and wagon, auto and walking historic tours; tour booklets and other publications; exhibits that inform and share our heriitage, the stories and history of the people that lived and settled the area now in sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore. Served as fiduciary and co-partner of the port oneida cultural fair drawing over 3,000 visitors. Staffed and operated the port oneida farms heritage center.”
