Hospice of lenawee (hol) clc collaborates with hol to bring grief and loss support to tps learners. Jr. Sadd (student's against destructive decisions) with the help of the tecumseh coalition for youth, a jr. Sadd chapter is active at steam east and west pen pals business people exchange letters with 6th grade learners emphasizing the importance of education in attaining career goals. 5th grade team building learners participate in a variety of team building activities facilitated by clc and community members. Building healthy communities a school-based initiative designed to prevent childhood obesity and create healthy school environments. Lunch pal adults are paired with elementary/middle school learners providing a mentoring opportunity during lunchtime, one hour per week. Ruling our experiences (rox):rox is an evidence-based empowerment program for girls that is sparking a positive change within the social climate of our schools. The mission of rox is to equip girls with the knowledge and skills to lead healthy, independent, productive, and violence free lives. Rox is about building confidence and competence in all girls. Rox participants are given the opportunity to inspire positive relationships and model leadership skills they learn throughout the program, among their peers and throughout their lives. Friday food packs food packs including ready to-eat and simple snacks that are sent home weekly with learners in need to supply nutrients over the weekend. Clc locker room housed at compass learning center new and gently used clothing is made available for elementary, middle and high school learners in need at tps. Children's special health care services provided through the lenawee county health department, where families in need of help with medical bills for their children with chronic health conditions can receive support and connection to community-based services. Eye care assistance learners in need receive a free eye exam and glasses through the generous support of the tecumseh lions club eye care assistance program. Two generation education through family nights addresses some of the root causes to why learners are struggling in school by supporting and empowering families who are living in generational poverty. Family nights are developed in partnership with tecumseh public schools and community action agency to offer financial literacy and financial coaching to parents. Learners receive the academic and social emotional supports they need to be successful in school. T-town safety in collaboration with many local agencies and businesses, this one-week program is offered to children grades k-2nd to teach them about safety through fun activities. Mayhem learners build their math, organization and team building skills in a fun environment. Learning garden at steam east o the outdoor learning garden (including plans for solar energy) is designed, developed and maintained by learners. O helping improve the health of kids and communities by creating experiential learning and garden-based education opportunities for generations to come. Sources of strength - nationwide suicide prevention initiative at ths, steam east and steam west funded by lenawee cares o over 90 tecumseh learners have been trained as peer leaders. O learners are working to promote hope, health and strength and help others identify their support systems. Fuel up to play 60 at compass and steam east o promoting and encouraging peers to lead healthier lives through education, projects, and schoolwide initiatives including hosting a milk drive to include shelf stable milk in friday food packs, a jump with jill school assembly, and farm to table lessons with field trips to local dairy farms. SADD CHAPTER IS ACTIVE AT STEAM EAST AND WEST PEN PALS BUSINESS PEOPLE EXCHANGE LETTERS WITH 6TH GRADE LEARNERS EMPHASIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN ATTAINING CAREER GOALS. 5TH GRADE TEAM BUILDING LEARNERS PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES FACILITATED BY CLC AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. BUILDING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES A SCHOOL-BASED INITIATIVE DESIGNED TO PREVENT CHILDHOOD OBESITY AND CREATE HEALTHY SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS. LUNCH PAL ADULTS ARE PAIRED WITH ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL LEARNERS PROVIDING A MENTORING OPPORTUNITY DURING LUNCHTIME, ONE HOUR PER WEEK. RULING OUR EXPERIENCES (ROX):ROX IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM FOR GIRLS THAT IS SPARKING A POSITIVE CHANGE WITHIN THE SOCIAL CLIMATE OF OUR SCHOOLS. THE MISSION OF ROX IS TO EQUIP GIRLS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO LEAD HEALTHY, INDEPENDENT, PRODUCTIVE, AND VIOLENCE FREE LIVES. ROX IS ABOUT BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND COMPETENCE IN ALL GIRLS. CHILDREN'S SPECIAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH THE LENAWEE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT, WHERE FAMILIES IN NEED OF HELP WITH MEDICAL BILLS FOR THEIR CHILDREN WITH CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITIONS CAN RECEIVE SUPPORT AND CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES. EYE CARE ASSISTANCE LEARNERS IN NEED RECEIVE A FREE EYE EXAM AND GLASSES THROUGH THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF THE TECUMSEH LIONS CLUB EYE CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. TWO GENERATION EDUCATION THROUGH FAMILY NIGHTS ADDRESSES SOME OF THE ROOT CAUSES TO WHY LEARNERS ARE STRUGGLING IN SCHOOL BY SUPPORTING AND EMPOWERING FAMILIES WHO ARE LIVING IN GENERATIONAL POVERTY. FAMILY NIGHTS ARE DEVELOPED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TECUMSEH PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY TO OFFER FINANCIAL LITERACY AND FINANCIAL COACHING TO PARENTS. LEARNERS RECEIVE THE ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SUPPORTS THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN SCHOOL. T-TOWN SAFETY IN COLLABORATION WITH MANY LOCAL AGENCIES AND BUSINESSES, THIS ONE-WEEK PROGRAM IS OFFERED TO CHILDREN GRADES K-2ND TO TEACH THEM ABOUT SAFETY THROUGH FUN ACTIVITIES. MAYHEM LEARNERS BUILD THEIR MATH, ORGANIZATION AND TEAM BUILDING SKILLS IN A FUN ENVIRONMENT. LEARNING GARDEN AT STEAM EAST O THE OUTDOOR LEARNING GARDEN (INCLUDING PLANS FOR SOLAR ENERGY) IS DESIGNED, DEVELOPED AND MAINTAINED BY LEARNERS. O HELPING IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF KIDS AND COMMUNITIES BY CREATING EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING AND GARDEN-BASED EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. SOURCES OF STRENGTH - NATIONWIDE SUICIDE PREVENTION INITIATIVE AT THS, STEAM EAST AND STEAM WEST FUNDED BY LENAWEE CARES O OVER 90 TECUMSEH LEARNERS HAVE BEEN TRAINED AS PEER LEADERS. O LEARNERS ARE WORKING TO PROMOTE HOPE, HEALTH AND STRENGTH AND HELP OTHERS IDENTIFY THEIR SUPPORT SYSTEMS. FUEL UP TO PLAY 60 AT COMPASS AND STEAM EAST O PROMOTING AND ENCOURAGING PEERS TO LEAD HEALTHIER LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION, PROJECTS, AND SCHOOLWIDE INITIATIVES INCLUDING HOSTING A MILK DRIVE TO INCLUDE SHELF STABLE MILK IN FRIDAY FOOD PACKS, A JUMP WITH JILL SCHOOL ASSEMBLY, AND FARM TO TABLE LESSONS WITH FIELD TRIPS TO LOCAL DAIRY FARMS. HEALTHY KIDS CLUB AT COMPASS FUNDED BY BUILDING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES GRANT O ONCE A WEEK LEARNERS START OFF THEIR DAY WITH AN ENERGIZING PHYSICAL FITNESS ACTIVITY AND PARTICIPATE IN NUTRITION AND WORK-OUT CHALLENGES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK WITH THEIR FAMILIES.
