Participated, visiting 14 local businesses, 73 parent volunteers supported. Friday food packs (sept. 2013 - may 2014) - friday food packs are sent home with a student for additional nutritional support over the weekend. The program was utilized in tecumseh acres and sutton elementary. 30 students, 888 ffps sent out this school year. Hygiene class - 3rd and 4th grade classes discussed hand washing, oral hygiene, changing clothes and putting on clean clothes after bathing, using soap when bathing, and bathing regularly. 221 students. Internet safety - site coordinator talked to 4th graders about internet safety. 178 students participated. Kindergarten lit groups - site coordinator assists with reading groups - 74 students, 1 volunteer. Lunch pal - adults paired with elementary/middle school students providing a mentoring opportunity during lunchtime, one hour per week. 5 consistent matches. Mitten tree (jan. 2014-mar. 2014) - three elementary schools had hats and gloves available for students that needed them to stay warm during outdoor play. Approx. 30 students participated. Pal (positive assisted learning) - high school students assist in the 3rd & 4th grade class rooms at one of the elementary schools to provide homework help, mentoring, and social skills. 8 student volunteers participated. Peace making lessons - cista facilitated lessons, six sessions per classroom, in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classrooms regarding conflict resolution skills - approx. 501 students from 4 elementary buildings. Rolling readers - local businesses/individuals adopt classrooms by reading to the students once a week throughout the school year. All 4 elementary schools participated - approx. 647 students from 4 elementary buildings, 24 adult volunteers. T-town safety (june 2014)- summer program: a one-week summer program offered to children grades k-2nd to teach children about safety. Community partners were tecumseh police department, tecumseh fire department, lowes, leep (law enforcement education program), anne kane, michigan attorney general's office, lenawee co. Sheriff dept. - marine patrol, tecumseh parks & recreation, and first student transportation. 29 children participated, 9 student volunteers helped. Tutoring - one-on-one tutoring at elementary school. 1 student served. Visual memory - students performed tasks to help them remember what they see and recreate it. 2 students. Middle school: after school homework help - this program ran from 2:30-3:45 every monday and wednesday. Nhs students were available to help out with homework. 57 participated, 63 student volunteers. Encore help - tms site coordinator worked one-on-one with students that need extra academic support. 42 students participated. First day encore tours - all 5th graders and new students to tps were given tours to show them where their encore classes were located. 176 students. 4th grade transition day - all 4th grade classes spend the day @ tms. Fourth grade parents are also invited for a parent night to tour the building. 174 students attended, 17 tms volunteers. Glow dance (nov. 2013) - members of sadd and jr. Sadd (students against destructive decisions) sponsored this dance for 7th and 8th graders. Approx. 200 students attended, 4 adult volunteers and 20 student volunteers were involved. Hats for the homeless (sept. 2013) - tms students collected and donated money. 160 students attended, 3 volunteers. Jr. Sadd (june 2014) - with the help of the tecumseh coalition for youth, a jr. Sadd was established at tms. 33 students involved with the first meeting kick butts (mar. 2014) - 5th grade students presented an anti-tobacco speech in their class. 205 students attended, 13 students gave presentations. Cista locker room (school year)- tps students can receive clothing from the cista locker room. 23 students. COMMUNITY PARTNERS WERE TECUMSEH POLICE DEPARTMENT, TECUMSEH FIRE DEPARTMENT, LOWES, LEEP (LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION PROGRAM), ANNE KANE, MICHIGAN ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, LENAWEE CO. SHERIFF DEPT. - MARINE PATROL, TECUMSEH PARKS & RECREATION, AND FIRST STUDENT TRANSPORTATION. 29 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED, 9 STUDENT VOLUNTEERS HELPED. TUTORING - ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. 1 STUDENT SERVED. VISUAL MEMORY - STUDENTS PERFORMED TASKS TO HELP THEM REMEMBER WHAT THEY SEE AND RECREATE IT. 2 STUDENTS. MIDDLE SCHOOL: AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK HELP - THIS PROGRAM RAN FROM 2:30-3:45 EVERY MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY. NHS STUDENTS WERE AVAILABLE TO HELP OUT WITH HOMEWORK. 57 PARTICIPATED, 63 STUDENT VOLUNTEERS. ENCORE HELP - TMS SITE COORDINATOR WORKED ONE-ON-ONE WITH STUDENTS THAT NEED EXTRA ACADEMIC SUPPORT. 42 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED. FIRST DAY ENCORE TOURS - ALL 5TH GRADERS AND NEW STUDENTS TO TPS WERE GIVEN TOURS TO SHOW THEM WHERE THEIR ENCORE CLASSES WERE LOCATED. 176 STUDENTS. 4TH GRADE TRANSITION DAY - ALL 4TH GRADE CLASSES SPEND THE DAY @ TMS. FOURTH GRADE PARENTS ARE ALSO INVITED FOR A PARENT NIGHT TO TOUR THE BUILDING. 174 STUDENTS ATTENDED, 17 TMS VOLUNTEERS. GLOW DANCE (NOV. 2013) - MEMBERS OF SADD AND JR. SADD (STUDENTS AGAINST DESTRUCTIVE DECISIONS) SPONSORED THIS DANCE FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS. APPROX. 200 STUDENTS ATTENDED, 4 ADULT VOLUNTEERS AND 20 STUDENT VOLUNTEERS WERE INVOLVED. HATS FOR THE HOMELESS (SEPT. 2013) - TMS STUDENTS COLLECTED AND DONATED MONEY. 160 STUDENTS ATTENDED, 3 VOLUNTEERS. JR. SADD (JUNE 2014) - WITH THE HELP OF THE TECUMSEH COALITION FOR YOUTH, A JR. SADD WAS ESTABLISHED AT TMS. 33 STUDENTS INVOLVED WITH THE FIRST MEETING KICK BUTTS (MAR. 2014) - 5TH GRADE STUDENTS PRESENTED AN ANTI-TOBACCO SPEECH IN THEIR CLASS. 205 STUDENTS ATTENDED, 13 STUDENTS GAVE PRESENTATIONS. CISTA LOCKER ROOM (SCHOOL YEAR)- TPS STUDENTS CAN RECEIVE CLOTHING FROM THE CISTA LOCKER ROOM. 23 STUDENTS. MARIJUANA PRESENTATION - STUDENTS (MAR. 2014) - WORKED WITH THS SADD STUDENTS TO BRING A PRESENTATION TO 6TH - 7TH GRADE STUDENTS REGARDING THE EFFECTS OF USING MARIJ
