“During 2020, the community resource center was able to remain "open" for business as an essential service (food distribution) during the covid-19 pandemic. Operations were modified to maintain safe practices from mid- march 2020 through the end of the calendar year. Onsite staff and volunteer participation was kept to a minimum and clients were served via the telephone anytime possible. Staff and volunteers positively impacted the lives of over 250 community members by providing remote (phone) application assistance for mibridges public benefits including snap, medicaid, childcare, and ser, wic referrals, free volunteer income tax assistance, older adult services including mmap and meals on wheels referrals, transportation assistance, mental health counseling and more. The community resource center continues to partner with area agencies offering specialized resources by assisting with referrals and virtual connections to provide those services for local residents. The crc also coordinated with washtenaw county to provide ppe supplies and co-host covid testing sites in our community multiple times during the year.”
