Therefore, in keeping with this hospital's commitment to serve all members of its community, free care and/or subsidized care, care provided to persons covered by government programs below cost, and health activities and programs to support the community's health status will be considered where the need and/or the individual's inability to pay co-exist. These activities include acute, emergency and outpatient services in addition to wellness programs, community education programs, and special programs for the elderly, handicapped, medically under-served, and a variety of broad community support activities.

IN THE LAST FISCAL YEAR, THE NON-REIMBURSED VALUE OF PROVIDING CARE TO ALL OF MRH'S PATIENTS WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,261,678 REPRESENTING A WRITE-DOWN OF 36.3 PERCENT OF THE HOSPITAL'S CHARGES, INCLUDING CHARITY CARE EXPENSES OF 3,924. ADDITIONALLY, THE HOSPITAL'S ALLOWANCE FOR UNCOLLECTABLE BAD DEBTS ARE ESTIMATED BY THE USE OF THE ALLOWANCE METHOD. BAD DEBTS FOR THE YEARS ENDING JUNE 30, 2014 AND 2013 AMOUNTED TO 2,270,857 AND 2,224,877, RESPECTIVELY. THE BAD DEBT EXPENSE ON LINE 2 OF SECTION A IS DETERMINED USING THE COST BASED UPON THE COST TO CHARGE RATIO THAT IS DEVELOPED IN SCHEDULE H.
