A copy of the form 990 was distributed to all board members prior to filing. Board members directed questions to the board chair, the executive director and the cpa. The board met to approve the form 990 prior to filing.

Board members complete a form to identify potential conflicts of interest. If questions arise related to a potential conflict of interest, a discussion is held at the next board meeting before any decisions are made or related activity begins. The board member with the potential conflict leaves the board meeting during the discussion.

The executive committee of the board meets to discuss compensation of the executive director. During the meeting proposed compensation is compared to similarily situated employees at comparable not-for-profit organizations using salary surveys and form 990s. Management evaluates the Organizations tax positions annually for any potential changes or issues that may result in uncertainty in the accounting for income taxes and makes a determination regarding their liklihood of being upheld under review. Management has reviewed all sources of revenue and believes that none of the activities have produced income subject to tax on unrelated business income. Management believes the Organizations operations have been conducted in accordance with its tax-exempt status, that all tax positions have been addressed and that there are no unrecorded tax liabilities. The Organization did not record any interest or penalties in the Statements of Activities or Statements of Financial Positions as of and during the years ended December 31, 2014 or 2013.

In 2014 the agency served over 15,000 hot, nutritious meals to the poor and hungry in the area of 31st and Troost. The Pantry served over 5,000 people. Emergency Medical assistance was provided to over 900 individuals in need. Case management services assisted 120 individuals.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Self-sufficiency Services - Self-sufficiency services include individual, family and group therapy services, as well as document and ID assistance, self-sufficiency workshops, digital survival classes, and a free internet cafe and computing lab. Group therapy services were provided to 55 individuals. The document assistance program helped obtain over 1,400 documents for homeless and poor individuals to increase access to hoursing, utilities, jobs, healthcare and other vital supports. 25 individuals participated in self-sufficiency workshops including Financial Literacy and Resume Building Workshops 180 unduplicated individuals participated in twice weekly digital survival classes and over 20 unduplicated individuals utilized the free internet and computing lab.
