THE OLD TRAIL MUSEUM SERVES THE PUBLIC VIA ITS MISSION STATEMENT IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS: OLD NORTH TRAIL, BLACKFEET TRAPPER/TRADER, CATTLEMEN, SHEEPMEN, ALICE GLEASON, METIS, BEADWORK, GRIZZLY BEAR, ART STUDIO, SHEEPWAGON AND A.B. GUTHRIE DISPLAYS; CHILDREN'S SUMMER PROGRAMS AND GIFT SHOP. THE OLD TRAIL MUSEUM SERVES THE LOCAL AREA, AS WELL AS, ADJACENT COMMUNITIES AND LARGE NUMBERS OF TOURISTS ENROUTE TO GLACIER NATIONAL PARK JUST TO THE NORTH OF CHOTEAU.2018 PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:Old Trail Museum opened a month earlier to host the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association. The board members rented the School House for their meetings during the four days they were here at their annual conference. What a great group of writers and artists.OTM had 3,803 visitors for 2018. Of that total 1846 were from out of state, 1499 were from in state, 160 were from Choteau, 135 were from Canada and 163 were from out of country with 24 different countries enjoying the museum.Eleven student groups from all over the state and six large tour buses toured the museum. Our annual Wild Game Feed held at the Event Center of the Stage Stop Inn in March drew a large crowd. This is OTMs major fundraiser to keep our museum open. What wonderful support we received from our community, businesses and individuals and even lots of donations from outside our community. Our silent auction and live auction raised an outstanding amount and once again we thank all those who attended and contributed.OTM had only one Wednesday evening program with Rich Clough, Bill and Maggie Luthin and Gary Betcher. It was music night and we had quite a large turn-out for this event and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you so much.Dave & Vi Vi Shea and Dave Hartman once again led two interpretive tours of the Old North Trail and other archeological sites. We are so happy with the turn-out for these tours and know they are enjoyed by all that participate. Dave and ViVi also did some individual tours that benefited the museum. Our next tours have been set for July 13th and July 20th 2019.SOKA PIIWA Foundation made a very generous donation to pay for the maintenance of the grounds and other maintenance expenses at the museum. Boe Brothers Foundation also gave a generous donation for helping to maintain the museum. We sincerely thank them both.Our Flea Market on Labor Day had 12 vendors this year and we had a great turnout for this event.The Ice Cream Parlor was a very busy place again. Dawn Sullivan does an outstanding job. We are so glad to have her on board. Connie Hirschs Carriage House was a busy place also. She was very happy with the outcome.OTM once again was invited to the Threshing Bee to sponsor our Dutch Oven Gathering. Jesse and Rose Crawford, Don Brookins, Kathje and Mitch Griffis, Becky Asby, and Howard Taylor were the wonderful cooks. What yummy food. OTM split the proceeds with the Teton Antique Steam and Gas Association. We all had a great time. OTM wants to thank so many people for donating their time and products to the museum. Mike Bernel for winterizing in the fall and getting all water turned back on in the spring, Steve Howard for winterizing the building for winter of 2019. Sharon Haug for donating some of our flowers for the grounds, Jody Durocher for donating some of his labor for our new furnace he put in, Al Wiseman for fixing some of the boardwalk and getting the old gas pump on level ground, Cam Morris for all his time fixing broken underground sprinklers and working on the sewer, Dave Zion, Steve Taomina, Clayton Ketcham for making a better place for the tipi to set on with gravel put down, Polly Cunningham for helping weather proofing our new tipi, everyone who helped paint the new tipi, Kathy Ketcham and Sherwin for always helping put up the tipi and taking it down, Gary Dale for trimming trees and then carrying away branches from a trimmed tree, Sherwin and Connie Smith for all the tree trimming they did on the grounds, Bob Pearson for helping with the sewer problem and for doing all the repairs on the bathroom (Thank you very much), Woody Ameline for all the help he gave during the summer with odd jobs, all the board members for all their work getting the museum ready for the 2018 season and for helping put everything away for the winter.What a wonderful and helpful board we have. A very special thank you to Laurie Jorden and Linda Watson for being Julies faithful helpers one day a week each as curators. Also thanks to Mark Krause for working on getting the accession records in the computer. What a wonderful job he is doing.$30,435-
TETON CANYON HISTORY PROJECT: OLD TRAIL MUSEUM FACILITATED THIS PROJECT WITH HELP FROM A MONTANA HISTORY FOUNDATION GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000, OF WHICH $4,000 WAS RECEIVED AND EXPENDED IN 2018.
