Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The barrington area council on aging, inc. (bacoa) was incorporated october 1, 1984 as a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the state of illinois. Bacoa's mission is to promote vibrant, healthy aging by providing information, advice and counsel, education and support to adults, families and caregivers. Bacoa's social, nonclinical programs help older adults find answers or support as their needs evolve. Thanks to strong community participation, bacoa is able to provide services such as meals with wheels, counseling on insurance and government benefits, caregiver support, information and resources, support groups, social programs and much more for those who need it. Bacoa is supported primarily through donor contributions and local government grants.

The barrington area council on aging, inc. (the "council") was incorporated october 1, 1984 as a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the state of illinois for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for all senior citizens and creating or improving communication within the barrington area regarding the needs of its senior citizens. The council is supported primarily through donor contributions, barrington united way and contributions from other local municipalities and townships.

(the "council") was incorporated october 1, 1984 as a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the state of illinois for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for all senior citizens and creating or improving communication within the barrington area regarding the needs of its senior citizens. The council is supported primarily through donor contributions, barrington united way and contributions from other local municipalities and townships.

The council's endowment consists of donor and board restricted assets and was established to support the mission of the council. As required by generally accepted accounting principles, net assets associated with endowment funds, including funds designated by the board of directors to function as endowments, are classified and reported based on the existence or absence of donor-imposed restrictions. When the endowment fund balance equals or exceeds 500,000 (as measured at march 31 of the prior fiscal year end), the board may elect to withdraw up to 2% of the balance in the subsequent year to support a specific project or capital improvement.
