IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom0STUDENT ORGANIZING ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES. DURING THE 2010-2011 YEAR, THE FOUNDATION ENGAGED ALL CONSTITUENTS OF ITS STUDENT ORGANIZING PROGRAM TO DETERMINE THE SHORT AND LONG-TERM EFFECTIVENESS OF ITS WORK, AS WELL DETERMINE APPROPRIATE TOOLS FOR CAPTURING PROGRAMMATIC DATA, AND EXPLORE NEW PROGRAMMATIC ACTIONS AND DIRECTIONS TO FILL IDENTIFIED GAPS. THE FOUNDATION MADE GREAT STRIDES IN DEVELOPING THE CAMPUS ORGANIZING PROGRAM- FOCUS WAS SHIFTED FROM NUMBERS AND CONTACTS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNS AS FUTURE LEADERS WITHIN THE PRO-CHOICE MOVEMENT. THROUGH THIS PROGRAMMATIC SHIFT, THE GRASSROOTS ORGANIZER AND STUDENT ORGANIZER WILL BE ABLE TO BETTER EQUIP THE CAMPUS REPRESENTATIVES WITH THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO DEVELOP NOT ONLY GREAT CAMPUS PROGRAMS, BUT ALSO DEVELOP THE REPRESENTATIVES AS LEADERS. LESSONS LEARNED WERE IMPLEMENTED AT START OF THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR CYCLES.
IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom1GRASSROOTS ENGAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: INTERNSHIPS. IN 2011, WE HIRED AND TRAINED INTERNS TO WORK ON OUR PRO-CHOICE LOBBY DAY, SUMMER COMMUNITY OUTREACH, STUDENT ORGANIZING PROGRAM, AND ESCORT VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT. TO DATE, MORE THAN 275 YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACQUIRED AN AWESOME PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE WITH NARAL PRO-CHOICE MINNESOTA'S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM. CLINIC ESCORTING PROGRAM. IN LATE 2005, WE STARTED AN ESCORT PROGRAM AT A MINNEAPOLIS ABORTION CLINIC. THIS PROGRAM WAS EXPANDED WITH THE TRAINING OF DOZENS OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS AND IS CURRENTLY RUN BY AN INTERN AS A STAND-ALONE PROGRAM WITH MINIMAL ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT. THE PROGRAM GIVES PROTECTION FROM ANTI-CHOICE ABUSE FOR THE CLINIC'S PATIENTS. IN 2011, OUR ESCORT PROGRAM MAINTAINS OVER 80 ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS. OUTREACH & INTERNET. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES THE TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO SUPPORT COMMUNITIES AND INDIVIDUALS INVESTED IN OUR MISSION. OUR MEMBERSHIP AND SUPPORTER LIST CURRENTLY INCLUDES OVER 80,000 PRO-CHOICE MINNESOTANS. WE ENGAGE THESE MEMBERS THROUGH EMAIL ALERTS AND QUARTERLY NEWSLETTERS, ORGANIZE CONSTITUENT TRAINING, AND CONDUCT OUTREACH AT FAIRS, CONCERTS, AND FESTIVALS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF CURRENT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CHALLENGES FACED BY WOMEN AND FAMILIES IN MINNESOTA. EDUCATIONAL FORUMS, TRAININGS AND CONFERENCES. OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR, STAFF OF THE NARAL PRO-CHOICE MINNESOTA FOUNDATION PROVIDED MANY "TALKING ABOUT CHOICE" TRAININGS FOR STUDENT GROUPS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES. GREATER MINNESOTA ORGANIZING. IN SOME COMMUNITIES, NARAL PRO-CHOICE MINNESOTA FOUNDATION HAS ESTABLISHED THE CHOICE LOBBY NETWORK, WHICH IS THE LINCHPIN OF A LONG-TERM PLAN TO REVERSE LOSSES IN PUBLIC RELATIONS, THE POLITICAL ARENA, AND IN THE PROVISION OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE IN GREATER MINNESOTA. IN ORDER TO HARNESS THE UNTAPPED ENERGY OF THAT SILENT MAJORITY, WE MUST REACH OUT BEYOND THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA WHERE A LACK OF ACCESS TO INFORMATION AND SERVICES LIMITS WOMEN'S LIFE CHOICES. IN OTHER AREAS, ORGANIZERS MAINTAIN A PRESENCE AT COMMUNITY EVENTS AND BY GIVING SUPPORT TO LOCAL ACTIVISTS. WE'VE BEEN ACTIVE IN ST. CLOUD, BEMIDJI, MOORHEAD, ROCHESTER, MANKATO, ST. PETER, AND DULUTH.
IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom2RESEARCH AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED ITS RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY UPON RESEARCHING THE PRACTICES OF CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS THAT RECEIVE STATE FUNDING THROUGH THE POSITIVE ALTERNATIVE PROGRAMS. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR OF 2011, THE FOUNDATION CONDUCTED RESEARCH AND COMPILED ITS FINDINGS IN A NEW REPORT THAT WILL BE PUBLISHED IN EARLY 2012. THE REPORT, TITLED "STATE-FUNDED DECEPTION: MINNESOTA'S CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS" HIGHLIGHTS THE DECEPTIVE PRACTICES OF THESE AGENCIES. IN ADDITION, IN APRIL, THE FOUNDATION HELD A ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION OF OVER 20 ORGANIZATIONAL AND LEGISLATIVE LEADERS AS PART OF A NATIONAL TOUR TO EXPOSE CPCS AS FAKE CLINICS. THE ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WAS FOLLOWED BY A FREE SCREENING OF THE PEABODY AWARD WINNING FILM, 12TH & DELAWARE, A FILM THAT EXPLORES THE JUXTAPOSITION OF A CPC LOCATED ACROSS THE STREET OF AN ABORTION PROVIDER. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO SERVES ON THE BOARDS OF, AND HAS LEADERSHIP POSITIONS ON SEVERAL POLICY FOCUSED COALITIONS, SUCH AS THE COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE SEXUALITY EDUCATION AND THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ALLIANCE. THROUGH THIS COALITION WORK, THE FOUNDATION IS ABLE TO INFLUENCE POLICIES AND POLICY MAKERS FOR PRO-CHOICE MEASURES THAT POSITIVELY IMPACT THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND ACCESS FOR ALL MINNESOTANS. ADVOCACY. THE FOUNDATION LED THE PRO-CHOICE COALITION IN PLANNING AND EXECUTING PRO-CHOICE LOBBY DAY. IN 2011, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, A SITTING GOVERNOR ADDRESSED THE OVER 250 CITIZEN ACTIVISTS GATHERED FOR THE DAY OF ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION. THE FOUNDATION ALSO RESEARCHED AND DEVELOPMENT FACT SHEETS ON TWO ABORTION LAWS INTRODUCED DURING THE 2011 LEGISLATIVE SESSION, AND EDUCATED LEGISLATORS ON THEIR HARMFUL IMPACT ON THOSE SEEKING REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE.

IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation6STUDENT ORGANIZING ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES.
