In 1975, people's resource center was started by a group of concerned residents who wanted to help their neighbors struggling with hunger. They handed out bags of groceries through the basement window of a house in wheaton. Today, we provide food and so much more. Our guests walk through our food pantries and select their own fresh produce, lean proteins and nutritious grains. They can stop in twice each month and choose the foods that work for their family tastes and lifestyle. We are in a unique position as we often meet people who are in crisis. They may be trying to cope with a job loss or health problems. In these moments, our focus is to take care of their immediate needs, including food, clothing and housing.
