Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The process has not changed from the prior year.

Form 990, Part III Line 1

Since 1975, people's resource center (prc) has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in dupage county. With a team of over 2500 volunteers, prc offers nutritious food and basic necessities like clothes and rent assistance for people facing tough times. In addition, prc helps to connect people with empowerment programs in an effort to create a future of hope and opportunity for all. Today, approximately 30,000 dupage neighbors who are in need rely on the prc for assistance each year. Clients of prc are welcomed to visit prc's wheaton and westmont locations as well as more than 30 community partner sites across dupage county where programs are offered. Prc's service areas help clients meet their essential needs and include: * food; * clothing; * homelessness prevention/financial assistance; * literacy classes & tutoring (i.e. English as a second language program, ged and citizenship study classes); * computer training; * computer refurbishment; * job training (i.e. Coaching, resume review, and job search); * art enrichment; and * youth summer science camps1 these programs are offered to all ages with the exception of classes notated by 1. The classes described with 1 are for children only and include interaction with their parents throughout the session. The aforementioned services and programs comprehensively meet prc's mission statement: people's resource center community exists to respond to basic human needs, promote dignity and justice, and create a future of hope and opportunity for the residents of dupage county, illinois through discovering and sharing personal and community resources. In order to accomplish this mission, prc embraces the values of serving clients with dignity and respect, offering creative and innovative programming, being responsible stewards of resources, having compassion and integrity, and reliance on miracles and friends in the community. Suburban poverty continues to increase at an alarming rate. Prc regularly serves those considered low and very low income, as well as the "working poor" residents of dupage county, and those who are aged or disabled with fixed incomes. For all of these families, financial stability can quickly change when an unexpected expense such as a car repair or emergency room visit occurs. As a leader and a trusted service organization, prc's responsibility is to help neighbors in need find the resources needed to not only survive, but thrive. Over the coming year, prc will continue to assist neighbors in need with essential services and enriching programs to help them overcome poverty while fostering a commitment to improved quality of life through literacy, job training, and wellness programs.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Prc files informational returns in the u.s. Federal jurisdiction and illinois. With a few exceptions, prc is no longer subject to u.s. Federal, state and local, or non-u.s. Income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2013. Prc does not expect a material net change in unrecognized tax benefits in the next twelve months.
