Compensation for the president/ceo is determined via the following review process: annually the organization reviews external non-profit survey data for presentation to the board compensation committee chair. The chair develops and presents any appropriate compensation adjustment recommendations to the compensation committee for discussions and to the executive committee of the board for approval. All other employees, including key employees, are reviewed per the foundation's personnel policy and guidelines and considered for adjustment via a pay for performance compensation system.

MOCK INTERVIEWS ARE CONDUCTED DURING THE WEEK-LONG TRAINING.INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING AND MENTORING AS WELL AS GROUP SESSIONS FOCUS ON NEEDS ASSESSMENT, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF BOTH LONG AND SHORT RANGE EMPLOYMENT GOALS AND THE STEPS NECESSARY TO ACHEIVE THOSE GOALS. GROUP SESSIONS FOCUS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS INCLUDING MONEY MANAGEMENT, HEALTH AWARENESS,CAREERS, AND LIFE SKILLS IMPROVEMENT. CLIENTS LEARN TO TAKE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES IN ILLINOIS AND IOWA - CONTINUEDRESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS AND HOW TO BETTER UTILIZE OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE TO THEM. THE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES SECTION PROVIDES MORE THAN 300 EMPLOYERS WITH RECRUITMENT ASSISTANCE, LOGISTIC SUPPORT AND EDUCATION RE: TAX AND BONDING INCENTIVES. EACH YEAR NEARLY 8,600 CLIENTS ARE SERVED BY SAFER'S WORKFORCE SERVICES. THIS YEAR, MORE THAN 4,200 CLIENTS WERE PLACED IN EMPLOYMENT AND OUR RECIDIVISM RESULTS WERE AS LOW AS 17.5% FOR THOSE WHO ARE EMPLOYED FOR 30 DAYS. MORE THAN NINETY-EIGHT PERCENT OF CLIENTS RATED SAFER'S SERVICES AS SATISFACTORY OR VERY SATISFACTORY.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES ARE DELIVERED IN A SIMULATED WORK ENVIRONMENT INCORPORATING TIME MANAGMENT, TEAM BUILDING, BUSINESS SETTING INTERPERSONAL SKILLS AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION AT THE CONCLUSION OF AN INTENSIVE EIGHT WEEK SESSION, STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE THE GED EXAM. AT THE TWO SAFER ADULT TRANSITION FACILITIES, INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS CAN SERVE THE FINAL 30 DAYS TO 24 MONTHS OF THEIR SENTENCES IN A COMMUNITY-BASED, WORK RELEASE SETTING. THE PURPOSE OF THESE CENTERS IS TO GIVE THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS SELECTED PARTICIPANTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRANSITION TO WORK, FAMILIES, AND THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS PRIOR TO RELEASE IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE LIKELIHOOD THAT THEY WILL BE SUCCESSFUL AND PRODUCTIVE, LAW-ABIDING COMMUNITY MEMBERS. SERVICES OFFERED INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING, JOB-READINESS TRAINING, GED TESTING, AND DEMAND SKILL TRAINING.ADULT TRANSITION/RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS - CONTINUEDTHIS YEAR SAFER FOUNDATION HOUSED NEARLY 1,300 CLIENTS AT THE TWO ADULT TRANSITION CENTERS AND AT ANY GIVEN TIME THERE WERE UP TO 575 RESIDENTS. ON AVERAGE, 250 GED'S ARE COMPLETED EACH YEAR. NINETY FIVE RESIDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE DEMAND SKILL TRAINING PROGRAMS AND EARNED INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIALS.
