“MAP International provided medicines and medical supplies to hospitals, clinics, and short-term medical missions in poor communities in 103 countries. These health care provisions included antibiotics, anti-malaria drugs, wound care supplies, de-worming medicines, over the counter pain relievers, allergy and respiratory medicines, sutures and other medical supplies and pharmaceutics.MAP provided $290 million (wholesale acquisition value) worth of medicines and medical supplies. In addition to shipments to hospitals and clinics, much of the product was used in MAP's Travel Pack program. This program allows medical professionals making short-term medical mission trips to poor communities throughout the developing world to take a 'clinic in a box' with them. In addition to our medicines program, MAP International has field offices in 7 countries where our local staff work with communities to promote health, prevent disease, and provide treatment. One of our signature programs is the Total Health Village (THV) which is an integrated community health program designed to facilitate self-empowerment among communities so that they have the ability to improve their quality of life and solve problems on their own. Below are significant achievements in MAP Country office programs during 2014.Liberia: MAP played an integral part in the fight against the Ebola virus outbreak. We were instrumental in the reduction of cases especially in healthcare workers by providing over 32,000 Personal Protective Suits (PPEs), gloves and face masks.Liberia continued: Working with our partners we were able to provide hygiene and sanitation kits to 1,600 households and train over 3,000 volunteers in 9 countries in Ebola prevention. Eighteen communities including two Ebola treatment facilities have been equipped with infrared thermometers to help prevent the spread of infection. We worked to renovate the water hand pumps at The Office of the United Blind Association, which serves 120 blind and physically challenged individuals and to provide them with a soap production business to improve economic capacity. In Dolo Town 10,000 people have been given access to safe drinking water that will provide 40,000 liters of water per day and hope for a brighter future. Ghana: Nearly 300 Health care workers were trained by MAP on how to detect and manage Buruli Ulcer and Leprosy cases, while an additional 562 volunteers were trained on how to stop Buruli and Leprosy early. In 2013 our team in Ghana started a school at our Tumiamayenko Total Health Village with 13 students. We now have over 100 students with two trained teachers. A wound dressing room has been rehabilitated in the Asunafo South District to better treat those in need.Cote d'Ivoire: Three health districts received computers, motorbikes and bicycles enabling them to improve the detection and quality of services provided to Buruli Ulcer patients. 95 health professionals from peripheral health centers now have the capacity to manage BU and Leprosy cases. 242 community health workers were trained to conduct health education and early case detection activities.Cote d'Ivoire continued: Due to these improvements in the communities 96% of Buruli Ulcer and Leprosy patients completed antibiotic treatments and 75% healed without disability. 6,000 people were provided access to safe drinking water thanks to repaired pumps. Constructed latrines through out the region giving several thousand people access to improved sustainable latrines. Trained villages in the practice of hand washing with soap at critical times.Kenya: Established a water system having a capacity to store over 30,000 liters of water for the Burangi community that servers nearly 600 people. In an effort to address the need for access to medical care Phase 2 in the construction of the clinic that will benefit the Burangi community was completed.Uganda: Our team distributed water filters to 50 families, repaired 3 boreholes, constructed 2 rock water har”
