Activity 2

Healthy living: the y is a leading voice on health and well-being. We bring families closer together, encourage good health, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, 21,354 people in our community are receiving the support, guidance, and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind, and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance, and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programs provided $178,375 in financial assistance through reduced membership dues and program fees to people who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation.

Activity 3

Social responsibility: as an organization, the ymca is socially responsible by providing youth development and healthy lifestyle programs and services for all, regardless of income and abilities. All ymca programs are designed to meet specific community and individual needs. In addition, the ymca is a conduit for providing opportunities for individuals to be socially responsible. We provide opportunities, training, supervision and outcome measurement. The ymca also encourages people, corporations, and organizations to be socially responsible through donations and other support of our programs and services. In 2011, over 650 people volunteered through the ymca and 1,069 individuals and organizations addressed community needs through donations to the ymca.
