Activity 2

Lawrence Hall's Therapeutic Day School educated nearly 130 students in FY11. All of its students live below the federal poverty line, one-third of its students are wards of the State of Illinois and the other two-thirds come from an average of thirteen different Chicago communities. All of the students have suffered numerous failures, often having experienced mulitple school placements due to the severity of their problems and the inability of the public school system to address these issues. Lawrence Hall's school has the experience and unique programming that at-risk youth need to succeed, as evidenced by (1) 98% of our students graduated on schedule; (2) 85% of our high school graduates are in college or training programs across Illinois. (Number of Attendance Days - 14,425)

Activity 3

The Workforce Development and Vocational Training Program provides job readiness, job training, placement, and coaching for all Lawrence Hall youth. Since the expansion of the Workforce Development and Vocational Training continuum, Lawrence Hall Youth Services has seen significant increases in both job placement and job maintenance for our older adolescents: (1) The Vocational Program served 278 youth in FY11 across all programs-an increase of 50% from FY10; (2) 82 youth participated in the Campus Works program-an increase of 27% from FY10; (3) 21 youth participated in internal or community based job readiness or job placement programs and an additional 17 youth attended job fairs. Through participation in these programs 6 youth were able to secure employment in the community; (4) The Older Adolescent Program served 134 youth in FY11. Vocational outcomes tracked by this program showed that all employment indicators maintained or increased performance from FY10 to FY11. (Number of Encounters - 7,358)
