“Three largest program services: donated clothing, furniture and household goods are sorted, priced and sold in our thrift stores to people at low prices allowing them to get more value on limited budgets. Others who lack the financial means to provide for themselves and their families receive vouchers and furniture requests from their church or other organizations. These vouchers and/or furniture requests are used to acquire through our thrift stores clothing, furniture and other necessities at no cost to the individuals. As an example, a family that has lost everything in a house fire will receive clothing, furniture, household goods and other supplies to help them recover from the event. In 2019, hope was able to help 121 families that suffered a loss from fire. Clothing and shoes provided to 1,170 individuals. Coats, heaters, fans, blankets and boxes of food provided to 765 families. Donated furniture, household goods and hygiene products provided to 11 local shelters. These shelters received over 250 pieces of furniture, hygiene products and 1,800 cans of food. Hope distributed approximately 50,400 meals to disasters, food pantries, the philippines and venezula. Hope sets up food drives, food packaging and distribution to provide food for the hungry. This includes helping local churches and charities with manpower and supplies for their food packaging events. Also perishable and non- perisahable foods are crated on pallets and shipped to areas that have been struck by floods, tornadoes & other disasters. In 2019 hope distributed meals, clothing, sandals, school supplies and toys to the philippines and clothing and meals were shipped to vensula. Cleaning supplies and hygiene packs were distributed to east cape girardeau flood victims. Hope also distributed 41,205 pounds of produce to surrounding communities. Hope set up warming centers when the temperatures dropped really low and provided hot meals. Back to school bash: over 990 students received free backpacks and school supplies. Each year this event provides many area students with amost all of the school supplies needed for the school year. Area families look forward to this event. Part of the event includes a free haircut, vision and hearing screening, dept of health check. Educational programs provide parents with information for nutrition and financial counseling, home and auto safety, and other information as well. Games, food, face painting and other events help create a fun atmosphere that children and parents enjoy.”
