THE ASSET POVERTY RATE IS MUCH HIGHER IN CLEVELAND (48%) THAN IN OHIO (29%) OR CUYAHOGA COUNTY (34%). SINCE THE STUDY WAS COMPLETED, NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRESS DEVELOPED A PARTNERSHIP WITH KEYBANK TO STAFF ITS FINANCIAL EDUCATION CENTER IN THE BUCKEYE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE FINANCIAL EDUCATION CENTER HAS HELPED MORE THAN 16,000 INDIVIDUALS INVEST IN THEMSELVES, BETTER MANAGE THEIR FINANCES, AND ACHIEVE THEIR FINANCIAL GOALS, SINCE 2004. THE FREE FINANCIAL CURRICULUM AT THE CENTER, TITLED "LEARN AND EARN," IS COMPRISED OF THIRTEEN INTERACTIVE CLASSES ON TOPICS INCLUDING MANAGING CREDIT, SAVING FOR EMERGENCIES AND FOR THE FUTURE, AND HOMEOWNERSHIP. DR. PETER WHITEHOUSE, CO-FOUNDER OF THE INTERGENERATIONAL SCHOOL, HAS COMMITTED TO INCLUDING A PRIMARY HEALTH CLINIC AS PART OF PHASE III. THE COMBINATION OF THESE TENANTS IS A MISSION-PERFECT ALIGNMENT OF ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED SERVICES TO SENIOR TENANTS, STUDENTS AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY.
