FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1, DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION MISSION:

Vision: children everywhere are raised in safe, loving families free from abuse and neglect. Providence house, inc. Was founded in 1981 to provide emergency shelter for children in greater cleveland whose families were experiencing a crisis. We are ohio's first licensed crisis nursery, and offer free, non-custodial emergency shelter to children, aged newborn through 10 years old, who live in situations which place them at risk of abuse or neglect. In our 36 year history, we have supported over 8,000 children and families in crisis throughout northeast ohio through a holistic, integrated program founded on the principles of child abuse prevention and family preservation. We use a two-generation, trauma-informed approach focused on children and their parent(s)/caregiver(s) to prevent child abuse and neglect, reduce foster care placements, and strengthen families. A range of services are provided to children and their families including 24/7 emergency shelter and direct services for children, with stays lasting up to 60 days (90 days in special circumstances), child and family case management, trauma services and therapies, developmental, educational and visitation programs, and a 6-12 month aftercare program focused on child protection, abuse/neglect prevention, and family preservation. Together, these services provide support, guidance, education and comfort to our children and families, and allow time to stabilize family crisis and establish a solid foundation for each family's future.
