“Statement of Program Service Accomplishments (stmt #4a) THINK Together focuses its efforts on providing extended learning opportunities to underserved students by offering high quality, academically-oriented out-of-school programs. Services include early literacy and math programs for pre-K students, daily comprehensive academic support programs (K-12), summer enrichment programs (K-12), small group tutoring programs (K-12), as well as fee based hourly enrichment programs (K-5). For the year ended June 30, 2016, these services were provided at more than 400 schools and community locations in partnership with nearly 50 public school districts throughout California, covering Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Alameda, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. These programs operate largely in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods where many of the students who participate struggle academically, and may not have the resources and support at home to allow them to perform at their full potential. Approximately 130,000 students were provided free access to these programs during the year ended June 30, 2016. THINK Together managed a paid staff of over 2,700 employees and coordinated approximately 3,000 volunteers who contributed over 100,000 volunteer hours to deliver and support these programs. This was the second year of THINK Together's strategic partnership with Principals Exchange, a consulting firm that works with public schools and districts to support instructional improvement, leadership development and systems change during the school day. Key elements of this strategic partnership include a THINK Together minority equity interest in Principals Exchange along with an operating agreement to provide a variety of administrative and support services. Principals's Exchange more than doubled its reach last year to 30,000 students in 600 classrooms across the state. Starting in fall of 2016, 80% of Think Together's district partners elected to increase their investment in Think Together's work to keep pace with state mandated cost increases and to expand learning opportunities for students through the allocation of locally controlled funds. New programs vary based on the needs of students in these districts, and include homework centers, small group tutoring, afterschool academics for kindergarten students, STEM enrichment and expanded high school intership opportunities. Think Together staff began delivering physical education during the school day enabling 8,000 kids to get their recommended exercise hours while releasing hundred of teachers to participate in planning and collaberation time without increasing the demand for substitute teachers.”
