Activity 2

Coral: services for deaf and hearing impaired people - the oaxacan center for the rehabilitation of hearing and speech (coral), located in oaxaca, mexico, was founded by child aid and continues to receive significant support and oversight. Coral helps impoverished deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults with affordable audiology services, speech therapy, hearing-health education, and testing. In 2011 coral served 4,367 individuals by: 1. Providing clinical hearing services to 1,667 impoverished people. 2. Providing hearing-related social work services to 177 people. 3. Teaching 40 deaf and hard of hearing children in coral's therapy school. 4. Testing 2,523 children through coral's early detection program.

Activity 3

Fundit: educational opportunity for the community of el tejar, guatemala - fundit, the foundation for the integral development of el tejar, a program supported largely by child aid, encourages the healthy development of children and their families by providing opportunities for education and self-improvement. In 2011 fundit: 1. Provided early-start primary school education to 120 poor children, ages 3 to 6. 2. Gave scholarships to 107 primary/secondary students to help them remain in school. 3. Operated a local library serving over 30,000 patrons annually. 4. Conducted a music education program serving 50 children.
