“Mbc conference: the 2024 minnesota breastfeeding coalition conference was held october 9-10, 2024, in minneapolis, minnesota. We had approximately 125 attendees; just over half of attendees were employees of either public health departments, hospitals, or clinics, and the remaining were from nonprofits, community-based or volunteer organizations, or were private practice birth professionals. The conference was organized over 1.5 days, and 9 continuing education credits were offered.”

“With funding from hennepin county, minnesota breastfeeding coalition has given internship opportunities for women, infants & children (wic) peer counselors to attain clinical lactation readiness to sit for the international board certified lactation consultant (ibclc) exam. Thru the next gen lactation there are quarterly group discussion meetings with other diverse peers in the state that share like experiences and to develop a defined pathway for credentialing and advancing lactation knowledge.”

“Remaining program accomplishments include those related to the next-gen program and wic funds. Next gen lactation fosters an inclusive lactation workforce representative of minnesotas diversity. Through the women, infant, and children (wic) state program, the next gen emphasizes the importance of breastfeeding with pregnant and new parents and provides resources to help wic families reach their breastfeeding goals.”

The process that the organization used to review the form was as follows and occurred through e-mail review during early november 2025: 1) discussed who participated in the process and how each participated, 2) explained mn state or local legal mandates requiring the board to approve form 990 (and noted absence of such mandates under federal law), 3) focused attention on organizational policies and disclosure of board members' names/compensation, 4) noted any areas of sensitivity, 5) did a careful read of filer's largest program arenas by expenditure, 6) discussed how form 990-ez is open to public disclosure (guidestar) and if they wanted any confidential donor contact information redacted from the public version of schedule b, and 7) highlighted any changes or departures from positions taken on prior year's form 990-ez.”
