ACTIVITIES INCLUDE STEM OUTREACH IN SERVICE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND K-12 INSTITUTIONS, BILINGUAL WORKSHOPS FOR PARENTS. FOR INCOMING AND ONGOING STUDENTS, THE GRANT AIMS TO INCREASE THE SENSE OF BELONGING THROUGH PEER LEARNING COACHES, MODIFICATIONS TO FIRST YEAR SEMINAR, STEM SPEAKER SERIES, NETWORKING EVENTS WITH LOCAL EMPLOYERS, INCREASE INTERNSHIP AND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES, STRENGTHENING INDUSTRIAL PARTNERSHIPS. IN THE FISCAL YEAR OF 2023-24, 85 STUDENTS WERE ENROLLED IN THE PEER MENTORSHIP PROGRAM WITH 12 PEER MENTORS. AMONG THE 58 STUDENTS IN FRESHMEN STATUS THAT COMPLETED THE REQUIRED ACTIVITIES, THEIR AVERAGE CUMULATIVE CSUB GPA IS 0.25 HIGHER THAN THOSE NOT IN THE PROGRAM. THEY ALSO COMPLETED ON AVERAGE 5 MORE UNITS THAN OTHER STUDENTS, WHERE BOTH STATISTICS ARE SHOWN TO BE STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT. FURTHERMORE, 8 STEM CAREER TALKS FEATURING 15 CAREER PROFESSIONALS WERE ATTENDED BY 335 STUDENTS. A STEM CAREER NETWORKING EVENT WAS HELD ALONGSIDE THE CSUB CAREER FAIR IN SPRING 24 WITH OVER 70 IN ATTENDANCE. ALSO, 24 CSUB STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE WINTER CSUB/BC JOINT RESEARCH PROGRAM HOSTED AT CSUB, WHILE 23 CSUB STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE SUMMER PROGRAM.
