“Fiscal year 2016-2017 accomplishments: "completed installation of public sculpture traveling the applegate trail. "joined the oregon cultural trust "expanded western themed rail art "publicized the role of the public arts council in the community "participated in philomath downtown streetscapes stakeholder group "planned for public artwork in a new city park traveling the applegate trail -- dedicated the completed sculpture and launched a fundraising campaign aimed towards completing payment of the structure. This whimsical combination of mosaic tile and powder-coated steel is a reminder of philomath's roots. It is located on highway 20/34 in a public park with easy pedestrian access. With a 2-year timeframe for full payment to the artist, the public arts council conducted a fundraising campaign and has now collected over half of the needed funds with a fundraising plan in place for the balance. Oregon cultural trust -- joined the oregon cultural trust and encouraged contributors to make matching donations to the trust. The arts council recognizes the value of being a member of the larger cultural community. Western rail art -- expanded the western themed rail art along the main thoroughfare of highway 20/34 to include powder-coated steel trees complimenting the existing rodeo art. Publicized the public arts council's community role -- made presentations to various local organizations emphasizing the role of the public arts council in expanding community art and the resultant community value. Philomath downtown streetscapes stakeholder group -- actively participated in the philomath downtown streetscapes stakeholder group planning for enhanced amenities in the downtown community core to be completed in 2019 and incorporating public art projects into the plan where viable. New city park -- conducted initial planning with city officials for public art at a new city park to be constructed in 2018.”
