“The philomath public art council facilitates the creation, placement and funding of public art projects that inspire and delight the visitors and community members of philomath, oregon. Fiscal year 2015-2016 accomplishments: - developed and printed 25 downtown banner designs - completed philomath rotary public art bench project - completed philomath public library bike rack project - developed and awarded request for proposal for public art sculpture for the public park in philomath street banners -- several different styles of banners have been added to the collection that can be displayed on the decorative main street lightpoles. The popularity of the banners has sparked the addition of special banners to publicize events like the philomath frolic & rodeo and the philomath chamber wine walk and car show. Large art banners -- larger artistic banners depicting the local beauty of the marys river and marys peak forests have been installed in front of the municipal buildings at 10th and applegate. Bike rack and bench -- the whimsical bike rack installed at the philomath library in spring 2015 celebrates the philomath motto "love of learning." the ppac partnered with the philomath rotary club to add a matching and equally fun bench at the library's front doors. Traveling the applegate trail at dale collins readerboard park. From the covered wagons to the benton county historical museum building, the combination of mosaid tile and powder-coated steel is a fun reminder of philomath's roots. Located along highway 20/34 at 15th street, motorists can see this mini-story in the heart of town.”
