Mission

Aoa is a land conservancy (trust) dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of our land and water as sustainable natural resources that are an asset and legacy for our community.

Aoa is land conservancy dedicated to protecting open space, farmlands, and natural areas in central and southeastern ohio. Aoa works with property owners to establish conservations easements, and/or acquire fee lands.

The written conflict of interest policy is regularly and consistently updated and compliance is enforced by the board. The scope of this policy includes staff and board members who are considered covered persons. The policy is in place to prevent conflicts of interest and identify any potential conflicts as they arise. A self-disclosure from covered persons to the board president/executive committee is required for any potential conflicts of interest. The covered persons are to refuse themselves from participating in any deliberation or decisions on such transactions

The finance committee recommends the annual salary amount of the executive director based on performance and comparison of people in like positions. The finance committee then presents these recommendations to the board of directors as part of the annual budget approval process. 3.aoa now has a total of 5,664 acres in conservation easement and 3,111 acres in fee ownership. Total acres managed by aoa is 8,775. 4.aoa prepared three grant applications to the clean ohio open space fund for the scioto river flyway project and beg darby creek in pickaway county and two ohio epa wrrsp grant applications. Coordinated grant planning with the columbus metro parks, delaware county preservation parks, ohio epa, the nature conservancy and the ohio department of natural resources. Submitted a local agriculatural easement purchase program sponsor application for six counties. Prepared a grant application and received funding for one laepp farm in pickaway county.
