“Members have the right to participate in the organization's governance and approval of policies. There are two classes of members, builder members, and associate members. Builder members are individuals actively engaged in the residential home building process. Associate members are vendors and others who have an interest in the home building industry by providing products and services to the industry. The rights of each class of members provide that each can serve on the board of directors; however, only builder members can serve as senior officers of the board.”

“Members of local building associations, which are seperate tax exempt entities, (locals) are also individual members of ohba. Members of each local elect people within their own membership to be directors of the ohba board. The number of directors from each local is based on the number of builder members of each local. The directors then elect the officers of the board. Elected directors may also elect life directors who are selected from among directors who have met eligibility requirements including number of years of service, and number of meetings attended.”

“The executive vice president and the executive assistant review the form 990 prior to authorizing its submission.”

“Board members are required to list potential conflicts of interest annually. The lists are then reviewed by the executive vice president to determine potential action needed to resolve such conflicts.”

“The executive vice president's compensation is reviewed and approved by the board of directors in conjunction with reviewing data of comparable compensation. Such decisions are documented.”

“The ohba is a 4,500 member trade association serving home builders, remodelers, land developers, and associate members promoting affordable housing opportunities for all ohioans. Ohba serves its membership through education and encouraging proactive involvement on state issues impacting the production of affordable housiing. Ohba serves its members as the voice of the building and land development industry on a state level.”
