Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Under section 501(c)(2) of the internal revenue code, the organization is exempt from taxes on income other than unrelated business income. Unrelated business income results from rental payments from commercial tenants. The organization incurred federal and state (florida) income tax expense totaling $71,620 for the year ended december 31, 2019, at an effective rate of approximately 11%. At december 31, 2019, the organization had prepaid federal income taxes of $8,256 and owed state (florida) income taxes of $11,028. The organization utilizes the accounting requirements associated with uncertainty in income taxes using the provisions of financial accounting standards board (fasb) asc 740, income taxes. Using that guidance, tax positions initially need to be recognized in the financial statements when it is more-likely-than-not the positions will be sustained upon examination by the tax authorities. It also provides guidance for derecognition, classification, interest and penalties, accounting in interim periods, disclosure and transition. As of december 31, 2019, the organization has not filed the corresponding corporation tax return for the state of florida (form fl-1120) for years prior to 2019. The state of florida has not assessed any tax, interest, or penalties at this time. An estimate of the liability cannot be determined at this time, therefore the organization has not recorded any liability related to this uncertain tax position in the financial statements as of december 31, 2019.

UNRELATED BUSINESS INCOME RESULTS FROM RENTAL PAYMENTS FROM COMMERCIAL TENANTS. THE ORGANIZATION INCURRED FEDERAL AND STATE (FLORIDA) INCOME TAX EXPENSE TOTALING $71,620 FOR THE YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2019, AT AN EFFECTIVE RATE OF APPROXIMATELY 11%. AT DECEMBER 31, 2019, THE ORGANIZATION HAD PREPAID FEDERAL INCOME TAXES OF $8,256 AND OWED STATE (FLORIDA) INCOME TAXES OF $11,028. THE ORGANIZATION UTILIZES THE ACCOUNTING REQUIREMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH UNCERTAINTY IN INCOME TAXES USING THE PROVISIONS OF FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING STANDARDS BOARD (FASB) ASC 740, INCOME TAXES. USING THAT GUIDANCE, TAX POSITIONS INITIALLY NEED TO BE RECOGNIZED IN THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS WHEN IT IS MORE-LIKELY-THAN-NOT THE POSITIONS WILL BE SUSTAINED UPON EXAMINATION BY THE TAX AUTHORITIES. IT ALSO PROVIDES GUIDANCE FOR DERECOGNITION, CLASSIFICATION, INTEREST AND PENALTIES, ACCOUNTING IN INTERIM PERIODS, DISCLOSURE AND TRANSITION. AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2019, THE ORGANIZATION HAS NOT FILED THE CORRESPONDING CORPORATION TAX RETURN FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA (FORM FL-1120) FOR YEARS PRIOR TO 2019. THE STATE OF FLORIDA HAS NOT ASSESSED ANY TAX, INTEREST, OR PENALTIES AT THIS TIME. AN ESTIMATE OF THE LIABILITY CANNOT BE DETERMINED AT THIS TIME, THEREFORE THE ORGANIZATION HAS NOT RECORDED ANY LIABILITY RELATED TO THIS UNCERTAIN TAX POSITION IN THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2019.
