Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The association has adopted the provisions of uncertain tax positions disclosure topics of fasb asc, which prescribes a recognition threshold of more-likely-than-not to be sustained upon examination. Measurement of the tax uncertainty occurs if the recognition threshold has not been met. This guidance also addresses de-recognition, classification, interest and penalties, disclosure, and transition. In the normal course of business, the association is subject to examination by taxing authorities. The association's tax returns for years subsequent to fiscal 2010 are open, by statute, for review by authorities. However, at present, there are no ongoing income tax audits or unresolved disputes with the various tax authorities that the association currently files or has filed with.

IRS990/Desc0THE ORGANIZATION PREPARES YOUNG ADOLESCENTS FOR THE PROFOUND RESPONSIBILITIES OF NURTURING AND PROTECTING CHILDREN. THE ORGANIZATION HAS ALMOST 900 TEACHING SITES FROM COAST TO COAST. EACH YEAR ALMOST 35,000 YOUNG ADOLESCENTS TAKE THE COURSE. THERE ARE OVER 4,000 SAFE SITTER INSTRUCTORS. IN GENERAL, ADEQUATE EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE MAGNITUDE OF THE RESPONSIBILITY A YOUNG ADOLESCENT ACCEPTS WHEN ACCEPTING A BABYSITTING JOB. MOST YOUNG ADOLESCENTS LACK THE KNOWLEDGE OF FIRST AID, RESCUE SKILLS, BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES AND LIFE EXPERIENCES NECESSARY FOR HANDLING MEDICAL, BEHAVIORAL, OR HOUSEHOLD EMERGENCIES WHICH MIGHT OCCUR. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF AN EDUCATION PROGRAM ADDRESSING THESE COMPETENCIES SHOULD BE A COMMUNITY STANDARD FOR ALL OF THOSE WHO CARE FOR CHILDREN. EACH PARTICIPANT MUST PASS A WRITTEN EXAM PROVING MASTERY OF KEY CONCEPTS. STUDENTS IN ALL COURSES MUST ALSO DEMONSTRATE ACCEPTABLE SKILLS IN INFANT/CHILD CPR. STUDENTS IN THE 12 HOUR COURSE MUST ALSO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO APPLY INJURY AND BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES. ALL SITES REGISTERED TO TEACH SAFE SITTER UTILIZE ONLY SAFE SITTER TRAINED INSTRUCTORS FOR STUDENT INSTRUCTION THUS ENSURING HIGH QUALITY AND COMPLIANCE WITH TEACH METHODOLOGIES. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 150 DOCUMENTED CASES OF LIVES SAVED BY THE ORGANIZATION'S GRADUATES USING THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS.
