Activity 2

Leadership for ohios philanthropic sector: ogf provided leadership for organized philanthropy in the state by (1) serving as a spokesperson for foundations among various external audiences, including placing articles in the public media (55 media stories in 2010), meetings with federal and state level policy makers, (in washington, dc and in congressional district meetings) and through interaction with federal and state regulators, including the internal revenue service and the ohio attorney general; (2) ogf president george e. Espy chaired the attorney general's charitable advisory council, a 14-member group that advised ag cordray on matters pertaining to ohios charities; (3) providing opportunities for philanthropy's voice to be heard in statewide education policy reform through our education initiative, including statewide convenings of representatives of education stakeholder groups and regional meetings for local foundations and community leaders.

Activity 3

Knowledge management: ogf answered 119 requests for information in 2010, produced 36 newsletters containing over 400 articles, a grantmaking outlook 2010 report, ohio community foundation roster, 4-state and ohio specific salary survey, and ohio: state of philanthropy 2010. Ogf's website was a leading source of knowledge, providing access to over 600 sample documents and reference materials. Ogf's 7 electronic listservs allowed members to learn from peers, with 423 participating by either asking or answering questions.
