The community improvement programming is where hard working volunteers work to change the ascetics of the neighborhood. Highlights: kcb naturalized 10,000 daffodil bulbs at strategic locations and 800 volunteers helped mulch and plant bushes, trees, and other perennials along cincinnati's major thoroughfares. New this year is the addition of vacant lot remediation. Modeling our program after the successful philly green program, we stabilized 34 vacant lots (totaling 165,656 square feet) by seeding, fencing, and maintaining the vacant green space. Several residents have expressed gratitude and appreciation for this effort saying that what once a dumping ground in their community is now a viable green space. Our future blooms program improved over 350 abandoned buildings by enhancing the barricades with painted representations of doors, windows, awnings, and flower boxes. Results: blight dropped by 25% and crime decreased by 18%. 67 communities and 33 schools successfully gathered 7,195 volunteers for the great american cleanup. They collected 243,664 pounds of trash and diverted 32,000 pounds of recyclable material from the landfill a 167% increase from last year.for every administrative dollar we receive, we leveraged over $20 that goes back into the community.
