Community care: consumer credit counseling service (cccs) helped nearly 2,300 people experience one-on-one financial counseling and helped 915 people manage their debts through the cccs debt management program. Cccs enabled 20 families to become homeowners and helped 257 families to avoid foreclosure. Nearly 580 individuals received bankruptcy pre-filing counseling and 300 individuals received bankruptcy pre-discharge financial education. Approximately 1,100 individuals learned how to manage their finances through financial education classes or workshops. Another 3,600 individuals learned about available services through outreach presentations. An additional 2,200 individuals benefited from responses by cccs to financially related inquiries. Friends at home empowered 32 senior volunteers to provide companionship services that supported 35 independent seniors in their desire to live in their homes longer. Homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing program provided financial assistance for rent and rent arrears to 33 families, consisting of 70 individuals at imminent risk of homelessness, from losing their housing in montgomery county. Program service ended june 30, 2011 fulfilling the terms of a contract with montgomery county. Interfaith care team ministry provided case management services to 33 families in targeted neighborhoods. In addition, emergency assistance was provided to 328 individuals through this program. The program closed june 30, 2011 when montgomery county funding concluded. The preble county emergency assistance program provided food, clothing and financial assistance for shelter, utilities and medications to 5,888 individuals. Thousands more received affordable clothing and household items at the once around thrift shop in eaton. Senior companion program provided fulfilling opportunities for 40 income-eligible older adults to provide friendship and assistance to 187 elderly persons who were able to maintain independence in their own homes. Volunteer services provided opportunities for 91 volunteers to faithfully care for the needs of those whom we serve through 49,105 hours of various subsidized charitable services. Community care provided $518,926 in uncompensated charitable services during the period to people who needed counseling and to people with limited resources.
