| Short Run Comix & Arts Festival - The festival is our largest program and reaches over 4,500 people. It transcends the commercial comic-con model by enhancing the usual book expo with interactive and collaborative creative experiences, such as artist talks, educational workshops, an animation tent, a literary showcase, live screen printing, and more. We consistently highlight programming by women, people of color, LGBTQ artists, and artists with disabilities. In 2019, we welcomed 240 exhibitors from around the country and special guests from Germany, Taiwan, Mexico, and Canada. The fest is always free to the public, and all ages are welcome. | $32,800 | $43,961 |
| Short Run Trailer Blaze Ladies Comics Residency - Trailer Blaze is held at The Sou'wester Lodge and Vintage Trailer Park in Seaview, WA. The annual residency offers invaluable time and space for emerging and established female artists and writers to do their work without interruption by an increasingly distracting world. Trailer Blaze is also an environment for work to get better-allowing time for contemplation, exploration of the natural world, and fostering connections within the community so we can share ideas, resources, and form lasting bonds. In 2019 we hosted 14 residents including artists Alejandra Espino, Leela Corman, Amy Camber, Ashley Franklin, ET Russian, and Megan Kelso. We negotiate a discounted weekly rate from the Sou'Wester and then collect fees from residents. We do not make any revenue off this program and Executive Director and Board Members donate their time as facilitators. We gave a $200 scholarship to ease the burden of travel for 1 resident coming from Mexico. Expenses are banquet permit, mileage for 2 drivers. | $0 | $3,504 |
| Short Run Summer School - We held 10 summer school classes including Stop-Motion animation, Zine making on photocopier, Silkscreen printing merchandise, Risograph printing, and 2 free classes specifically for youth, figure drawing in charcoal and drawing from the natural world at Alki Beach. 80 students attended, with 2 people receiving financial assistance and 10 others taking classes for free. We were happy to be able to provide this financial flexibility to expand our audience. Our goal of spreading out our classes among different neighborhoods has continued. We went as far as Mukilteo to hold a comics class for youth. We were happy to have enthusiastic students learning something new, improving their skills, and getting excited about our festival! Summer School and other classes we taught at libraries and art centers brought in $1,670. Our expenses are rented venues ($100), instructor fees ($650), and art supplies ($240). | $0 | $1,034 |
| Short Run Micropress publishes hand crafted collections of comics and art that are conceived, printed, and assembled in distinct and innovative ways. In 2019 we produced "Trailer Blaze Zine 2019". | $0 | $331 |
| The Dash grant awards 1 self-publisher (through an application process) $250, a free half table at the festival, a spot in our annual art show, mentorship by festival special guest, and instruction and access to local screen print co-op the week before the festival. The Katie Kelso Grants gives $200 ea. to 2 exhibitor guests to ease the burden of travel to Seattle. | $0 | $0 |
