Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The Form 990 and schedules were provided to all board members along with the organization's financial statements and annual report for review 3 weeks prior to the board meeting at which the Form 990 was approved for submission.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Each year, each board member is provided with a copy of the Conflict of Interest Policy for the organization and is required to sign and return a Conflict of Interest Statement. The statements are reviewed by the executive director and in case of declaration of any conflict, the statements would be further reviewed by the board of directors. However, all conflict of interest statements returned during 2025 confirmed that our directors were all disinterested parties.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

During 2025, the organization received funding to hire its first employee in the position of Director of Development/Associate Director, a parttime position requiring 28-32 hours per week. The board appointed a hiring committee, which conducted extensive investigation to create a job description, a job listing, and to set the reasonable compensation for the post based on the compensation offered by other charities for similar positions.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Governing documents and conflict of interest statements for The BIG FIX are available upon request and the contact form on our website can be used for making a request. Our annual financial statements are made available by 1st April each year on our website, in our annual report (which is on our website, is distributed to donors, and is available on charity evaluator sites such as Candid and Charity Navigator). It is also available upon request by using the contact form on our website.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Form 990 and schedules were provided to all board members along with the organization's financial statements and annual report for review 3 weeks prior to the board meeting at which the Form 990 was approved for submission.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Each year, each board member is provided with a copy of the Conflict of Interest Policy for the organization and is required to sign and return a Conflict of Interest Statement. The statements are reviewed by the executive director and in case of declaration of any conflict, the statements would be further reviewed by the board of directors. However, all conflict of interest statements returned during 2025 confirmed that our directors were all disinterested parties.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2During 2025, the organization received funding to hire its first employee in the position of Director of Development/Associate Director, a parttime position requiring 28-32 hours per week. The board appointed a hiring committee, which conducted extensive investigation to create a job description, a job listing, and to set the reasonable compensation for the post based on the compensation offered by other charities for similar positions.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3Governing documents and conflict of interest statements for The BIG FIX are available upon request and the contact form on our website can be used for making a request. Our annual financial statements are made available by 1st April each year on our website, in our annual report (which is on our website, is distributed to donors, and is available on charity evaluator sites such as Candid and Charity Navigator). It is also available upon request by using the contact form on our website.
