Their functions and responsibilities are leadership, strategy development, member and administrative management, marketing and communications, web and technology management and financial management.The organization delegates control over meeting management duties to a meetings management company, Meeting Designs in which their responsibility is to manage the Annual Congress.”

“membership may be granted to any Individual who: Meets the criteria set for a fellow, associate, fellow-in-training, resident, affiliate, honorary member and retired member: abides by the By-Laws of the Organization and such other rules and regulations the organization may adopt; and merits such individual criteria for each category of membership in the organization as the board of directors may from time to time establish.Fellows have the rights to attend membership meetings, to participate in discussions, to vote on matters submitted to the membership, to hold elective office and serve on committees and councils. Associates shall have the same rights as fellows, except they shall not be eligible to serve in any organization officer position. Fellows-In-Training shall have all rights of fellows except that they shall not be eligible to serve in any officer position. Residents shall have the same rights and privileges as those of fellows-in-training members. Affiliate members are not eligible to hold any officer positions or positions requiring being a surgeon or physician. Honorary members may be appointed by the board of directors to committee positions but are ineligible to hold any elected position. A retired member is granted this membership category by specific action of the board.”
