“The organization delegates control over management duties to a management company. The sherwood group,which was purchased by the kellen company during the year, was the management company for the organization. Their responsibilities are leadership and strategy development, member and administrative management, conference management, marketing and communications, web and technology management and financial management.”

“The board shall be composed of twelve (12), changed from 15 members and is as follows: the president, president-elect, and treasurer, the three (3) senior officers of the assembly of national affiliated societies (anas) not 3 senior officers of the board of league regents (blr), and six (6) members at large. The executive director (chnaged from managing director) shall serve as an ex officio memeber and shall function as the secretary of the board. Selection of at large board members shall be based upon members competency and willingness to serve. When possible, consideration should be given to at large board members nominations that are representative of the geographical regions of the membership. (this was added in 2014).”

“Membership may be granted to any individual who: meets the criteria set for a fellow, associate, fellow-in-training, resident, affiliate, honorary member and retired member; shares interest in and supports the purposes of the league; abides by the bylaws of the league and such other rules and regulations as the league may adopt; and meets such additional criteria for each category of membership in the league as the board of directors may from time to time establish. Fellows shall have the rights to attend membership meetings, to participate in discussion, to vote on matters submitted to a vote of the membership, to hold elective office and to serve on committees and councils. Associates shall have all of the rights of fellows except that they shall not be eligible to serve in any league officer positions. Fellows-in-training shall have all of the rights or fellows except that they shall not be eligible to serve in any league officer positions or as members of any of the league's core organizational units. Residents shall have the same rights and privileges as those of fellow-in-training members. Affiliate members may work or volunteer as committee members. Affiliate members are not eligible to hold any league offices or positions requiring being a physician or surgeon. Honorary members may be appointed by the board of directors to committee positions. Honorary members shall be ineligible to hold any positions requiring election by the membership or by members of the core organizational units. A retired member is granted this membership category by specific action by the board of directors.”
