Mission

To engage the community in environmental and economic sustainability by preventing needless waste from entering landfills through repurposing and redistributing still useful items for reuse. SSE engages businesses to donate their items and redistributes them to the community, including educational, charitable, military and start-up organizations.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

The Exchange Program The purpose is to create a bridge between industry and the community by fostering and facilitating the donation of surplus assets from businesses to the community, especially nonprofit and charitable organizations. SSE provides assistance to corporations, organizations, and companies donors in managing and recycling their surplus assets through a donation channel for redistribution back into the community. Recipients include, but are not limited to schools, colleges/universities, hospitals, libraries, churches, and other charitable organizations, as well as start-up entrepreneurial organizations and small businesses. The items include computers, desks, tables, chairs, office supplies, electronics printers, copiers, and equipment like microscopes, etc. SSE has supported more than 400 local organizations through the Exchange to date. A major goal of the Exchange Program is to help the community to be more green and sustainable by reducing the carbon footprint of waste, while diverting solid waste and still useful items from the landfills. SSE diverted over 450,800 pounds of waste from the landfill and recycled 90,000 pounds of electronic waste e-waste, heavy materials, plastics and glass.

The Organization received 76,707 in donated services and use of facilities. These amounts were properly excluded for federal tax reporting purposes.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Exchange Program The purpose is to create a bridge between industry and the community by fostering and facilitating the donation of surplus assets from businesses to the community, especially nonprofit and charitable organizations. SSE provides assistance to corporations, organizations, and companies donors in managing and recycling their surplus assets through a donation channel for redistribution back into the community. Recipients include, but are not limited to schools, colleges/universities, hospitals, libraries, churches, and other charitable organizations, as well as start-up entrepreneurial organizations and small businesses. The items include computers, desks, tables, chairs, office supplies, electronics printers, copiers, and equipment like microscopes, etc. SSE has supported more than 400 local organizations through the Exchange to date. A major goal of the Exchange Program is to help the community to be more green and sustainable by reducing the carbon footprint of waste, while diverting solid waste and still useful items from the landfills. SSE diverted over 450,800 pounds of waste from the landfill and recycled 90,000 pounds of electronic waste e-waste, heavy materials, plastics and glass.
